Poker pro Phil Hellmuth and Global Poker Index (GPI) head man Alexandre Dreyfus duked it out last night while attending the LA Poker Classic.

It was all in good fun.

Two weeks ago, Hellmuth criticized the GPI for not being “egalitarian” enough.

He tweeted at that time:
The GPI is very flawed. I cannot respect a points award system that counts $100,000 high rollers. Poker awards need to be egalitarian.

And by “egalitarian”, Hellmuth means that the GPI needs to live by the principle that all poker players are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities.

For his part, Dreyfus laughed off the criticism, tweeting back that poker is not always fair. Dreyfus pointed out that the formula used by the GPI does not give $100,000 tournaments any more weight than a $20,000 event.

Dreyfus also said on his blog that the "greatest" doesn't mean "the best" and if he wants to rank higher then he simply needs to "win more".

Even fellow pro Daniel Negrenu joined the fray, however, he was not available to put on the boxing gloves Tuesday night.
"It just shows that we can be sarcastic and have fun, even if we disagree," Dreyfus told Gambling911.com in regard to Tuesday night's cordial "run-in" with Hellmuth.
