Joe Barton Internet Poker Bill Could be Ready in Next Few Days

A bill to legalize Internet poker in the United States could be ready by as early as this coming week.

Congressman Joe Barton of Texas, a Republican, plans to gear his bill towards states that currently permit gambling while others will be permitted to opt out.  Barton’s push for legalizing Internet poker in the US has been met with support even from the most hardened industry opponents, including Rep. Spencer Bachus of Alabama.  The bill would be steered through the House Financial Services Committee, which ironically comes under Mr. Bachus’ control.

Ron Paul: “U.S. Gold Should be in Hands of People”

In an interview with CNBC, US Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul wants to stop the falling value of the U.S. dollar by digging into America’s gold reserves.

"They’re worrying about raising the debt limit," said the Texas congressman. "I’m worried about the value of the dollar" especially if the Federal Reserve continues to "print money" whenever it wants.

"They try to pump up the fear and scare us into doing things," he said of the government, adding that was how the bank bailouts came about. "Aren’t we defaulting if the dollar is worth 90 cents this year?"
