Thursday, 9:05 pm Eastern - ESPN

SBG Global Opening Line: Lakers  -  5.5  ,  Total  210.5

Kobe Bryant took over and led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 105-103 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday.  Bryant had 40 points including six free throws in the last half minute as the Lakers rallied for a big victory in Game 1. "Once I sensed we didn't have the energy, I had to take it upon myself to lead by example," Kobe said. "It's just part of my responsibilities to this team."  Now the Lakers will look to go up 2-0 on Thursday.

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Nuggets on the Road.

The Lakers were down by seven points in the fourth quarter but Kobe took over in Game 1. "He was the scoring opportunity for us," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We had very little else going on. He muscled his way through." Carmelo Anthony scored 39 points and Chauncey Billups had 18 for the Nuggets who were not happy they let the game slip away. "There's no moral victories in playoff basketball," Denver coach George Karl said. "The next 48 hours are going to be difficult."

The Lakers have now won 11 straight playoff games against the Nuggets.

"They have the best closer in the sport and we didn't do enough," Karl said.  The Lakers are now 7-1 at home in this year's playoffs. "You get used to greatness," Lamar Odom said about Kobe, "He was amazing. He wanted the ball. Kobe is always going to help you or bail you out more than he hurts you."
