Rachel Alexandra the Favorite to Win 2009 Preakness Stakes

She's not officially running yet, but the winner of last week's Kentucky Oaks has already been instilled as the -125 favorite to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes.   This was the number found just about everywhere with the exception of a few -120's. 

According to Blood horse, Assistant trainer Scott Blasi informed Maryland Jockey Club director of horsemen's relations Phoebe Hayes that Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Rachel Alexandra is scheduled to fly into Baltimore on May 13 for next Saturday's $1 million classic. A decision on whether she actually gets on the plane will not be made until the filly works.

"We are excited at the prospect of seeing the first four finishers from the Kentucky Derby and the superstar filly in the Preakness," said Maryland Jockey Club president and chief operating officer Tom Chuckas. "We could be looking at one for the ages."
