Wicked Strong Kentucky Derby Odds – Best Payout at Nearly 10-1
Gambling911.com was looking across the Net and discovered that Wicked Strong Kentucky Derby odds were priced at just shy of 10-1 at Bookmaker.
We are looking at some terrific value considering most books were offering 6-1 odds on Wicked Strong to win Saturday’s Derby.
This was an early number that appeared Friday around 1 pm EDT so we strongly suggesting locking this price in now as it could change.
This Jimmy Jerkens-trained colt is seen as one that can run the distance and poses a serious threat as a closer.
Wicked Strong is the sentimental favorite of this year’s Kentucky Derby, carrying with it the message of “Boston Strong”.
Wicked Strong represents Boston with the promise to give 5 percent of the colt's Triple Crown winnings to victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. Not surprisingly, he was the third most wagered on Derby entry at Bookmaker after California Chrome (+225) and Wildcat Red (26/1).
"This is just where we want to be right now,” Wicked Strong owner Donald Little, Jr. said of his solid recent performances.
Jerkens told the Baltimore Sun he would have preferred to start in the middle. But after the draw, he took comfort from watching tape of I'll Have Another's 2012 victory from the No. 19 post, which, we would be remiss in pointing out, has only yielded that single winner since 1930.
"It was gorgeous," the trainer said. "I watched it last night. He moved right over as if it was a six-horse field. So it can happen."
Wicked Strong will start from the number 20 spot, which also brought us a single winner since 1930. That was more recent as well with Big Brown in 2008.
