Betfair Considers $2.5 Billion IPO

(Bloomberg) -- Betfair Ltd. is considering a 1.5 billion-pound ($2.5 billion) initial public offering, the Sunday Telegraph reported, without citing anyone.

Founders Andrew Black and Edward Wray, who will meet banking advisers over the coming weeks, reconsidered their position on a potential IPO following continued strength in global equity markets, the newspaper said. Betfair declined to comment, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

Trump Casinos Post $443 Million Loss

ATLANTIC CITY - Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., currently in the midst of an ownership fight between Donald Trump and corporate bondholders, fell to a huge loss in the second quarter, reflecting the lower value of two of its three casinos.

The company reported a net loss of $443.1 million, or $13.97 per share, compared to a net loss of $29.8 million, or 94 cents per share, in the same quarter last year.

William Hill Profits Likely Down Over Last Year

William Hill, the United Kingdom's second largest bookmaker, is expected to announce interim results on Tuesday.

Analysts believe that profits at both William Hill and rival Ladbrokes (scheduled to announce results itself on Thursday) will be down over last year.  This is due to bad weather causing a number of race meeting cancellations during the month of March.  Likewise there were few surprises with May's football results.

William Hill Prepares for Tax Fight, Move Off Shore

William Hill is understood to be ready to move its online sports and phone betting operations offshore within the next few weeks.

The betting giant already has a division based in Gibraltar for its online gaming operations and recently moved about 90 staff there and to its other offices in Malta, Israel, Bulgaria and the Philippines as it positions itself for the international market.

A company source said any plans to move to an offshore location would be determined by company strategy rather than tax reasons.
