The Preakness Stakes is one of the most wagered on races of the year, often second to the Kentucky Derby.  It is the second leg of the triple crown.  BetOnline is available for betting the Preakness Stakes from Texas.  They now offer 9 percent daily rebates.

All eyes will be on Kentucky Derby winner Mage as the original favorite to win the race was scratched and will be ineligible to run in the Preakness.

Odds of Mage winning a triple crown were set at 9-1 for a payout potential of $90 on every $10 bet or $900 on every $100 bet.  He had come into the Derby as a 15-1 long shot and joined Justify (2018), Big Brown (2008) and Regret (2015) as Derby winners with just three previous starts.

“It’s just a dream,” Mage co-owner Ramiro Restrepo told Local 10 News. “That’s what it is. It’s a dream that’s come true.”

Restrepo and his team, mostly fellow Venezuelans, joined together and bought Mage last year.

“It’s been a fabulous year, together, as a group, and we’ve achieved a lifelong goal for all of us to win, arguably, the most prestigious horse race in the world,” Restrepo said.

Two Phil's finished second in the Derby and promises a payout of $45 for every $10 bet with a Preakness Stakes win initially but will be bypassing this year's Preakness.
