Twitter Universe Reacts to DraftKings Decision to Allow Automated Software

The reaction to Daily Fantasy Sports site DraftKings decision to allow high-volute players to utilize automated software tools had elicited quite a bit of discourse from Twitter followers Friday.

A quick recap:

DraftKings has changed its policy as to now allow these high-volume multi-entry players the use of automated software tools.  This allows said players – a minority on the site who tend to rake in the most cash – to enjoy a decisive edge when it comes to last minute roster changes and adverse weather situations.

Yahoo Launches Daily Fantasy Sports Site: Will Take on DraftKings, FanDuel

Yahoo, long a leader in the season-long Fantasy Sports space, began offering Daily Fantasy Sports contests effective Wednesday (July 9, 2015).  Yahoo has now positioned itself to compete with DFS juggernauts DraftKings and, both of which have partnered with professional sports leagues and franchises. 

Yahoo will first offer Major League Baseball Daily Fantasy contests then will expand into other sports such as the NFL.

Daily Fantasy Sports Businesses Must Be Classified as Gambling Sites in UK

( Fantasy Sports Wire) - An interesting dilemma has arisen with news that Daily Fantasy Sports powerhouse DraftKings recently submitted an application with the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.  Their intent was not immediately known but the presumption is that DraftKings will one day like to be regulated in the United Kingdom. After all, rival was actually founded in the UK.

But this is an industry that is working hard to present itself as providing an activity not deemed to be gambling.

Sportech to Take Over in $7 Million Deal

(G911 News Wire) -, the third largest Daily Fantasy Sports site, but by a rather large margin, has been sold to Random Outcome USA, a newly formed subsidiary of Sportech.  MGT will sell all of its Daily Fantasy Sports ventures as part of the deal, reported to be worth $7 million, $4 million of which will be in cash.  MGT will retain an equity interest in the new company as well.  This includes common stock and warrants.

Fantasy Sports Combine to Take Place in Vegas Despite NFL Ruffling Its Feathers

DENVER – (Associated Press) - Organizers of the Fantasy Sports Combine are going ahead with plans for their inaugural event in Las Vegas next month in contrast to the Tony Romo-led Fantasy Football Convention that was scuttled after the NFL reiterated its policy banning active players from making promotional appearances at casinos.

The Fantasy Football Convention was slated to have more than 100 NFL players participating in autograph sessions, photo ops and fantasy-related events.

Why The NFL Cancelled Tony Romo's National Fantasy Football Convention

The National Football League this weekend demanded that Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo cancel a Daily Fantasy themed event scheduled to take place in Las Vegas next month, citing a league policy prohibiting players from appearing in casinos.

Romo, who recently joined Twitter, wrote that the league canceled the event. The Dallas quarterback said he was “sad for the fans and players.”
