Ahead of the NFL Draft this year, former Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean was asked if he could beat former Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark in a 1-on-1 game of basketball.

DeJean, who was a standout high school player on the hardcourt, confidently said he would beat Clark, which, naturally, sparked massive debate.

Fast forward to yesterday. During a podcast, DeJean said Clark recently reached out to him via text and said that he in fact would lose to her in a head-to-head game. DeJean said he has mad respect for Clark, but doubled down on confirmed that he still thinks he would beat the WNBA's No. 1 overall pick.

We set odds for a potential 1-on-1 game between the former Hawkeyes athletes. The odds equate to DeJean having an 88% probability of victory.

"In actuality, the odds should be even higher on Cooper's side," BetOnline Brand Manager Dave Mason said. "However, we know we'll get action on Caitlin at 4/1 so no reason to give more value to her bettors. It's a Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor type of odds-setting situation. Everyone would back the underdog at any number because of the hype."

Earlier this year, BetOnline.ag ponied up the other side of a $1 million bet concocted by Clay Travis that pitted the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces against a boy's high school basketball state championship team of his choosing. The bet was that Travis would pay the Aces a cool mil if they beat the boys, and BetOnline would pay the boys if they beat the women.

That game didn’t happen, and it’s highly unlikely this Iowa showdown will either.
