There are only five games on tap for Monday night so let’s take a look at the top value plays.

We noted the other night that all but Kevin Garnett on the T-Wolves starting squad have been averaging 30 fantasy points since the All Star Break.  Even Garnett made value the other night against the Wizards, needing only 19 fantasy points.

Ricky Rubio (PG) $7.3K had 35+ points vs. a tough Memphis team the other night. Andrew Wiggins (SF) $6.7K contributed over 30 fantasy points that night as well.  Even Kevin Garnett managed to make value thanks in no small part to his 3 steals.

The T-Wolves do have a favorable matchup against the Clippers Monday night, particularly with small forward Andrew Wiggins as LA ranks 29th in points allowed to this position.

Over his last 10 games, Wiggins is averaging 18.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 38.4 minutes per game.

It’s interesting to note that Wiggins did struggle against the Clippers in his last appearance against them way back on December 1.  We will overlook that one as a potential off night for the prominent and favorably priced small forward.  Wiggins will reach value at around 31 fantasy points this evening.

DeMar DeRozan (SG) $7K is a good option going up against Philadelphia this evening.  The Sixers have allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards this season.

He really had a bad night the last time facing the Sixers and, like with Wiggins, we will chalk that up to a rare off night.

He needs around 32 fantasy points.

Louis Williams (SG) $4.3K may be an even better option than DeRozan coming off the bench as his price is such that he only needs around 24 fantasy points.  He scored 22 baskets against New York the other night.  Two rebounds, three assists and one block helped push his fantasy points towards 30s territory.

Philadelphia is dead last against power forwards.  That said, Amir Johnson has not played particularly well enough of late to reach value.

New Orleans ranks dead last against opposing point guards over the past month.  Their opponent, Dallas, has two starting point guards, both well-priced: JJ Barea (PG) $4.1K and Rajon Rondo (PG) $5.8K.

Back on January 25 Rajon Rondo destroyed New Orleans, and this was at home where the Pelicans tend to play quite well.  Rondo walked away with over 40 fantasy points and only needs 30 here.

Monta Ellis (SG) $7K killed it in his last appearance versus the Pelicans, scoring 36 points.

For anyone thinking that Golden State may rest players against Brooklyn Monday night, it is important to remember that the Nets have won one of the last four games in this series while keeping the other losses within 8 points.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
