Forbes on Why Full Tilt Poker Can’t Pay: Massive Theft and US Cash Seizures

Forbes.com reported on Full Tilt Poker’s statement Tuesday elaborating further on why it has failed to pay back customers millions of dollars.

The one-time second largest online poker room in the world claims it was robbed by a payment processor in addition to funds being seized by the US Government on April 15 as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering and bank fraud.  They blame everybody but themselves.

The US Government contends FTP can and should pay out its customers, implying these funds should have been segregated.

Atlantic City Ghost Town as Hurricane Irene Approaches

The US second largest gambling destination, Atlantic City, has been completely evacuated in anticipation for Hurricane Irene.

The storm had weakened to a Category 1 but was expected to bring high damaging winds and a strong storm surge.  A storm of similar strength, Hurricane Belle, completely flooded neighboring Long Beach Island in 1976.  That system tracked a little further out to sea than Irene’s current forecast track, which takes her right along the New Jersey coast.

This weekend is typically among the busiest for Atlantic City.

Online Poker Traffic Sees 3 Percent Drop Off: Bodog Poker Hits 1000 Mark

Last week the online poker industry witnessed another 3 percent drop in traffic.

Nine of the top ten networks saw a drop.  Merge Poker was the lone exception, seeing a 4 percent increase in traffic.  That network is supposed to begin allowing new US registrants any day now.

Bodog Poker and Cake Poker, both of which accept US customers, enjoyed modest gains as well, “indicating a general resurgence for US-facing sites,” according to PokerScout.com.
