Maurice Clarett Hopes For UFL Tryout

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio – (Associated Press) - Former Ohio State tailback Maurice Clarett has gotten back into the classroom. Now he wants to get back onto the football field.

Clarett filed a motion with a judge asking to be allowed to travel to try out with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. A review of the motion was tentatively set for Monday afternoon and then later pushed back to Aug. 30. Clarett cannot leave the state until he receives clearance from the court.

Trading News: Gambling Public Says Roger Clemens to be Found Guilty

 

A new market has opened at intrade.com on Roger Clemens pleading guilty or being found guilty on at least one count.

A federal grand jury indicted Clemens on August 19, 2010 on charges of making false statements to Congress about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. The indictment charges Clemens with one count of obstruction of Congress, three counts of making false statements and two counts of perjury in connection with his February 2008 testimony.

Craigslist Killer Used Primitive Scalpel To Kill Himself In Prison

The so-called Craigslist Killer, Philip Markoff, used a “primitive scalpel” to kill himself in a Massachusetts prison over the weekend.

Markoff was awaiting trial in the murder of a 25-year-old New York masseuse Julissa Brisman.  Markoff responded to an ad on the popular online bulletin board Craigslist.  He allegedly met his victim and shot her dead, then robbed Ms. Brisman.  A med student, Markoff was said to owe substantial gambling debts at the time of the murder.

Joran van der Sloot was a Poker Playing Punk

 

As Gambling911.com has extensively covered, accused murderer Joran van der Sloot has long been tied to poker, both brick and mortar and online.  The Dutchman was attending the Latin American Poker Tour in Lima, Peru when he met Stephany Flores.  She would be killed in his hotel room.  Van der Sloot would later confess to the murder, though he has since recanted that confession.
