eSports Sites Raising Big Money for Fantasy, Betting: Vulcun, Unikrn, AlphaDraft

It’s yet another aspect of the Daily Fantasy Sports phenomenon, eSports, with the three main players announcing additional monies raised over the past few months.

Vulcan, the biggest of the bunch, says it managed to raise $13.4m (£8.6m) and paid out over $1.1m (£713,000) in prize money to over 117,000 fans in its opening three months.

FantasyFeud.com was offering 1-day fantasy sports contests with payouts reportedly totaling $750,000 during the month of May alone.

According to the Fantasy Feud website, their one-day fantasy MLB contests start as low as $1.00.

Fantasy Feud allows drafts for NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB across many draft variations.

An email was sent out to customers this past week claiming the company has been unable to obtain additional funding after raising $1.2 million last year.

Daily Fantasy Sports Marries Poker at the WSOP in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Two of the most popular forms of wagering in America--poker and daily fantasy sports--for the first time ever are being combined into one event at the World Series of Poker.

According to a WSOP spokesman, a daily fantasy sports-themed poker tournament will be one of the events at the 46th annual WSOP, which got underway this week in Sin City.

Jason Ader: Fantasy Sports Will Replace Slot Machines as Way Americans Gamble

Appearing on CNBC’s “Fast Money” Wednesday, SpringOwl Asset Management founder Jason Ader stated that daily fantasy sports will soon replace slot machines as the primary way in which Americans gamble.

Kansas Senate Approves Fantasy Sports as Game of Skill Bill

TOPEKA, Kansas — (Associated Press) - Fantasy sports would be declared a legal game of skill under a bill approved by the Kansas Senate in a 37-1 vote Monday.

Lawmakers moved several pieces of legislation as they shift into the final stretch of the session. The fantasy sports bill would clarify an ongoing dispute over the legal status of fantasy football leagues if passed by the House and signed by Republican Gov. Sam Brownback.

FanDuel Gets Naming Rights on Floyd Mayweather Trunks

The world leader in daily fantasy sports, FanDuel.com, announced this week it has purchased the naming rights to none other than Floyd Mayweather’s trunks.  He will have them on full display during his highly anticipated May 2 bout with Manny Pacquiao.

Goodell Addresses Daily Fantasy Sports, Gambling and the NFL

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the Associated Press Sports Editors group Friday on a number of topics, including daily fantasy sports and the role gambling may play in the National Football League (NFL).
