Price Per Head Betting - Alabama, USC and Georgia-Clemson Clash Kick Off 2013
As college football gets underway this week, the Price Per Head customers playing through agents using WagerHome.com's unique sportsbook software will be making their selections and putting their money where their mouth is. And they will have activity on several consecutive days.
We'll take a look at some of the action that will be taking place each day.
Highlighting the Thursday schedule is a trip to Hawaii for the USC Trojans, who are a little undecided at the quarterback spot after Matt Barkley moved on to the NFL. Lane Kiffin doesn't know whether Cody Kessler or Max Wittek will get the start, and some players, like All-America wide receiver Marqise Lee, have expressed a little concern over it. Kiffin has said that he will use both of the QB's during the game, and the indecision is not likely to hurt them much against a Hawaii squad that is bound to be improved in Norm Chow's second year at the helm, but still has strides to make before it can challenge for even a Mountain West title (they are +3000 to do it according to the folks at WagerHome.com). Chow, incidentally, counts USC among his many stops along the way as an offensive coordinator.
You could count Hawaii as one of those stops, inasmuch as Chow fired his offensive coordinator, Aaron Price, just a few weeks ago. Price had been on the job for only five months, and Chow did not give a reason other than to say that "some issues have arisen." What will happen now is that Chow is going to, in effect, assume Price's duties rather than to hire someone else. The Rainbows are a 21.5-point underdog in the Price Per Head betting odds at WagerHome.com. Want to discuss the USC quarterback situation or Price's firing? Go Here to Follow US on Twitter
The former Hawaii coach, June Jones, has been in process of bringing back the SMU program, and they take a resounding 43-10 win over Fresno State in the Hawaii Bowl into this season. The Mustangs play in one of the Friday games against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, where Kliff Kingsbury makes something of an eagerly anticipated debut as head coach. Kingsbury, a former quarterback at Texas Tech and in the NFL,. had been offensive coordinator at Houston for a few years and helped fuel the Texas A&M attack in that position last season, working with Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. The Red Raiders are a six-point favorite for the people using the sportsbook software at WagerHome.com.
Price Per Head football bettors can see that Alabama is the solid favorite to win its third straight national title, at +180. The Crimson Tide will get a test right out of the box when it faces Virginia Tech on Saturday. The Hokies are a team that could conceivably be seen in the Top 25 at year's end, and certainly they will be a contender to play for the ACC championship (indeed, Virginia Tech is +600 to win the conference for those who are going to play with the PPH sportsbook software). The Tide comes in with a couple of interesting candidates for the Heisman Trophy, quarterback A.J. McCarron and running back T.J. Yeldon. But V-Tech, playing at home, should have a feisty defense for Frank Beamer, and we know that quarterback Logan Thomas has the interest of NFL scouts, though he needs to improve on his 51% completion rate and 18-16 ratio of TD's to interceptions. There is so much respect for Alabama that in the college football odds that will appear before WagerHome's software users, they are favored by 19 points at a neutral site (Atlanta's Georgia Dome). Can Alabama do it again? That may be something to discuss with others at http://www.twitter.com/
In another Saturday game, the Georgia Bulldogs, who could have prevented Alabama from ever getting to the BCS title game last year, narrowly losing in the SEC championship game, will be visiting Clemson in the season opener, in what is a matchup not only between two of the nation's best teams but also two of the nation's best quarterbacks as well. Aaron Murray and Tajh Boyd will be two candidates for the Heisman, but will the defense hold up for either squad? Good question. In the college football betting futures that WagerHome.com end users are looking at, Georgia is +1200 to win the BCS crown, while Clemson is +2000.
