Marketing Spend Lifts Paddy Power Q3 Revenues
DUBLIN - (Reuters) – Increased marketing spending helped Irish bookmaker Paddy Power to third-quarter revenues up 23 percent on last year, while favourable results boosted its returns on sports betting.
The Dublin-based group has been more adept than larger rivals at reacting to punters moving to online gambling and saw internet sports betting activity climb by 28 percent in the three months to Nov. 14.

Niranjan Nagar, the Head of Games & Apps for Global Vertical Marketing at Facebook, is slated as the keynote speaker at next months’ Social Gaming & Gambling Summit in Los Angeles (taking place December 13-14).

Annette Obrestad revealed on Saturday she has booked her tickets for Aussie Millions. Obrestad won the first ever World Series of Poker Europe in 2007.
The Aussie Millions (also known as the Crown Australian Poker Championship) is considered the Southern Hemisphere’s richest poker tournament and one of the most prestigious in the world. Last year, the first prize award paid out $1.6 million.
Penn National Gaming to Split Into Two
NEW YORK - (Associated Press) -- Shares of Penn National Gaming Inc. hit their highest price since early 2008 on Friday, after the casino and racetrack operator said it plans to split its business into two separate public companies.
It will complete the separation by spinning off its real estate assets into a real estate investment trust. Its gaming business will then stand alone. The split is subject to gaming regulatory approval, which Penn expects to receive in the next nine to 12 months. It expects to complete the spinoff of the REIT in the second half of 2013.

Outspoken poker pro Daniel Negreanu has gotten into it this time with none other than High School Assistant Basketball coach a la Twitter, or so he claims.
The principal of Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadephia confirmed to Gambling911.com following publication of this piece earlier Thursday that one Nicholas Cusato only volunteered briefly at the school and was never employed as an Assistant Basketball Coach as he claims on his Twitter page.
Cusato somehow managed to get into a Twitter spat with Negreanu, though the origin of this spat was not immediately known.

Chicago Suburb Targeted for New Casino Development

76-Year-Old Reputed Mobster Robert Gentile to Plead Guilty
HARTFORD, Conn. (Associated Press) — A 76-year-old reputed Connecticut mobster said to have information about the largest art heist in history was expected to plead guilty Wednesday in a weapons and prescription drugs case.
Robert Gentile, of Manchester, has a change-of-plea hearing scheduled in Hartford federal court. He has pleaded not guilty to allegations he illegally possessed firearms and explosives and sold illegally obtained prescription drugs.
Connecticut to Re-Examine Online Gambling
Connecticut, which had dabbled with the idea of licensing online gambling websites earlier in the year, is looking to revisit that option.
