WASHINGTON - The four major pro sports leagues and the NCAA sued Delaware Friday, seeking to block the state from implementing sports betting.
Delaware's sports betting plan "would irreparably harm professional and amateur sports by fostering suspicion and skepticism that individual plays and final scores of games may have been influenced by factors other than honest athletic competition," the leagues and NCAA said in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Delaware.

William Hill Prepares for Tax Fight, Move Off Shore
William Hill is understood to be ready to move its online sports and phone betting operations offshore within the next few weeks.
The betting giant already has a division based in Gibraltar for its online gaming operations and recently moved about 90 staff there and to its other offices in Malta, Israel, Bulgaria and the Philippines as it positions itself for the international market.
A company source said any plans to move to an offshore location would be determined by company strategy rather than tax reasons.

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) - The Poker Players Alliance hopes a hot hand in the nation's capital this week will help its efforts to legalize online poker.
As part of its "National Poker Week," the group has set up nearly 100 meetings with members of Congress and their aides, and plans to present a petition to President Barack Obama on Wednesday that had more than 350,000 signatures at last count. Gaming stocks are taking a pasting after a gloomy update from Playtech, which supplies software to the gambling industry.
Playtech's shares have slumped 93p to 359.25p - a 20% decline - as it said it expected full year earnings to be lower than expected. It said this was partly due to the general economic weakness, but in particular to a slower than expected start for its online betting joint venture with William Hill. Playtech took a 29% stake in the business last October.
