iMEGA Appeal Filed in US 3rd Circuit

Today, iMEGA filed its brief with the US Court of Appeals, 3rd Circuit, in the matter of iMEGA v. Keisler, et al. The suit challenges the constitutionality of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA), which prohibits US financial institutions from processing transactions between online gambling sites and US players, while shifting the determination, burden and cost of enforcement onto the financial institutions.

Kentucky Online Gambling Domain Case to Require Clients Identities Revealed?

A hearing to determine if the commonwealth of Kentucky can seize up to 141 online gambling domains took place this past Friday.

Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said at a press conference last week that the gambling-friendly state is taking "unprecedented action" against sites that "siphon off money from regulated and legal games," such as the state lottery and thoroughbred racing. Kentucky has lost "tens of millions" to unlicensed gambling, he said.

CAP Poker Tournament Raided by Police in Barcelona

According to numerous reports, an online gambling affiliate convention poker tournament has been shut down by Barcelona police.

Police raided the Hotel Princesa in Barcelona Spain this weekend where the Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) poker tournament was taking place.  (see news here)

Gov. Steve Beshear said his administration has asked a Franklin County Circuit Court judge to give the state control of 141 gambling Web site domain names. Beshear said he's looking to restrict Kentuckians' access to Web sites with names that include some of the most popular gambling sites for U.S. players: bodoglife.com, doylesroom.com and fulltiltpoker.com.
