New Jersey Online Gambling Revenue Numbers Released: 28 Percent Increase

Internet gaming win for January 2014 increased 28% from the $7.4 million reported in December 2013.

As of January 31, 2014, 197,782 Internet gaming accounts have been created since the beginning of soft play on November 21, 2013.

Based upon filings with the Division of Gaming Enforcement, total gaming win from the casino hotels and Internet gaming operations totaled $195.7 million in January 2014,compared to $205.2 million in casino win last January.

Former Full Tilt Poker Operative ‘Malpractice’ Claim Against Attorney Thrown Out

A Nevada district court has thrown out a claim against noted online gambling industry attorney Jeff Ifrah by which a former client asserted “malpractice”.

Chad Elie, a convicted online poker payment processor who was among those indicted during a sweeping crackdown on the industry April 15, 2011, alleged last April that Ifrah gave him misleading professional advice so that he could continue making millions of dollars in commission.

Las Vegas Sands officials were not responding to inquiries related to customer credit card information following a hacking of its corporate websites Tuesday that continued to leave its digital services in disarray 36 hours later.   The site remained out of commission heading into Thursday.

Sands Casino Sites Still Down After Hacking: Social Security Numbers Posted

The Sands Las Vegas casino property websites were down throughout the day Tuesday following what appeared to be a website hacking.  At one point during the early part of the day it was reported that staff and executive social security numbers were scrolling on the compromised sites.

Al Michaels Turns Oddsmaker – Makes Winter Olympics Curling Bet on the Air (Video)

Who would have thought that curling would become such a hot betting item?

Phil Ivey Wins $4.2 Mil At Aussie Millions Event: His Biggest Take Ever

Poker pro Phil Ivey just got a whole lot richer Monday.

Already one of poker’s biggest money earners of all time, Ivey added another $4.2 million to his treasure chest at this week’s Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge.

This was Ivey’s single biggest cash ever.

Ivey entered Day 2 of the event with the seventh largest stack at 622,000 and would eventually finish off fellow poker pro Isaac Haxton by day's end.

No need to shed any tears for Haxton however as he walked away with a cool $2,820,000.

Macau Gambling Revenue Up But Misses Estimates

(Reuters) - Macau, the world's casino capital, raked in 28.7 billion patacas ($3.6 billion) in gambling revenues for the first month of 2014, boosted by Chinese visitors flocking to the country's only legal casino hub ahead of a week-long national holiday.

Revenue growth in Macau, a special administrative region of China like neighbouring Hong Kong, was up 7 percent in January, the lowest growth rate since October 2012 and far below analyst estimates of 11-15 percent.

Adelson Launches Online Gambling Opposition Ads: Nation Divided

LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) — Many experts believe online wagering is the future of gambling, but the casino industry is increasingly divided on the issue.

The latest evidence of the split comes Monday as the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling launches the first commercial in a six-figure campaign warning of the dangers of legalized Internet gambling.

The group is supported by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, CEO of Las Vegas Sands.

Canadian Gambler Files to Bankruptcy to Avoid Paying $12.9 Mil Casino Debt

Canadian gambler and real estate tycoon Semion Kronenfeld has filed for bankruptcy protection in the US with hopes of avoiding the payment of a $12.9 million debt to MGM Grand and Venetian Hotels in Las Vegas.

The 43-year-old is facing decades in prison following a grand jury decision and an arrest warrant has since been issued.

The case against Kronenfeld has lingered on since 2008.

Aria Hotel and Casino in Vegas Fined for Blocking NGCB Agents

LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) — Nevada gambling regulators says the Aria Hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip blocked its agents from watching a high-stakes roulette table.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board filed a two-count complaint against Aria and part-owner MGM Resorts International on Friday.

The complaint said two state agents who had not identified themselves were watching high rollers play roulette last October when a supervisor told them that the players did not want to be watched and threatened to call security.
