PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Announces Mega Path Satellites

ONCHAN, Isle of Man –The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) today announced the start of the popular Mega Path satellites for the PCA 2014 festival.

The PCA Mega Path satellites run several times a day and offer PokerStars players the chance to win a Main Event prize package worth $15,560 for as little as 10 Frequent Player Points (FPPs). The PCA Mega Path consists of eight tournament steps, and players can buy-in directly at any step to play for one of six Main Event packages up for grabs in the weekly finals.

M Resort Poker Room Closes in Vegas

The M Resort, operated by Penn National, closed its poker room over the weekend after struggling against stiff completion.

The establishment recently hosted the Hollywood Poker Open.

According to USPoker.com, the M Resort typically only hosted one or two cash games on Saturday nights.

Casino Bus Crash Kills One in Colorado

DENVER – (UPI) -  Several passengers on a casino bus were injured early Sunday when it collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle outside Denver, police said.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was killed in the 6 a.m. MDT crash on Highway 6 and an unspecified number of people aboard the bus were taken to Denver-area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, the Colorado State Patrol said in a statement.

Court Tosses Out Cardroom International LLC v. Mark Scheinberg, et al. Suit

PokerNews.com is reporting that Judge Elizabeth White, of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, “has tossed a seemingly spurious – albeit markedly long-lived – lawsuit brought by Cardroom International, LLC, with an array of defendants including Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Pocket Kings, Ltd., Andy Bloch and Erik Seidel.”

Indeed, Cardroom’s claims did appear a bit over the top.

Potential Witness in Whitey Bulger Case Poisoned: Gangster Refuses to Testify

Authorities revealed Friday that a potential witness in the murder and racketeering case of Boston Mobster James “Whitey” Bulger had been poisoned.

William Camuti, 69, has since been charged with attempted murder in the death of Stephen Rakes.

Camuti allegedly laced a cup of McDonald's coffee with two teaspoons of potassium cyanide then gave it to Rakes for him to drink.

It is believed that Rakes owed Camuti money.  Police are working on the assumption that Camuti acted alone and that the murder is not tied to the Bulger trial.

What a Crock: Thousands of Affiliate Websites Taken Down by HostGator Outage

Online gambling affiliates and other websites were severely impacted by a massive outage at hosting companies HostGator, BlueHost and HostMonster.

All sites on these respective companies servers have effectively been taken offline.

Mashable.com reports that each of the hosting services are part of the Endurance International Group and that the outage appears to be related to server maintenance at the Provo, Utah, data center.

Nevada Gaming Revenue Down Nearly 5 Percent in June

CARSON CITY, Nev. — (Associated Press) - State officials say Nevada gambling revenues went down 4.8 percent in June compared with a year earlier.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released statistics Friday showing casinos won $792 million in June, down from $833 million in June 2012.

Las Vegas Strip winnings of $435 million were down 10 percent year-over-year.

But the situation was the opposite a little further down the road: Downtown Las Vegas winnings of $37 million were up 9 percent.

Internet Cafes in Ohio Under Investigation for Alleged Illegal Gambling

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — (Associated Press) - A multi-agency investigation of online gambling targeted Internet cafes and other locations in seven Ohio counties with search warrants Thursday.

The task force has been investigating allegations of Ohio gambling law violations and allegations of illegal bingo and money laundering, authorities said. Marysville police said in a release that they expected to seize gambling machines, as well as financial and other records noted in the warrants.

No arrests were expected Thursday, although charges could be filed later, authorities said.

Man Sentenced for Running Online Gambling Website: FBI Agent was Customer

SHREVEPORT, La. — (Associated Press) - A Bossier City man has been sentenced to three years of probation and fined $50,000 for operating an illegal internet sports gambling site.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Wednesday that U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. sentenced 34-year-old Terry Lee Doty Jr., who pleaded guilty in April to one count of transmission of wagering information — a federal felony offense.

Gambling High Roller Ramon DeSage Accused of Tax Evasion: Defrauded Investors

Las Vegas businessman, Ramon DeSage, who was previously accused of defrauding investors out of $191 million now faces additional allegations that he failed to pay nearly $87 million in federal income taxes.

The U.S. District Court in Las Vegas handed down a four-count indictment against DeSage on Tuesday.  It illustrates casino and bank wire transfers totaling $15.1 million.

Las Vegas Sands Wants Second Jury Verdict Thrown Out

LAS VEGAS — (Associated Press) - Las Vegas Sands Corp. asked a Nevada judge Tuesday to throw out a second jury verdict awarding a former consultant a $70 million settlement in a breach-of-contract case.

Attorneys for the largest U.S. casino company presented 12 reasons a district judge should grant a second retrial.

The payroll company ADP says companies hired in July at the fastest pace since December.

Bwin.Party Share Price Rises on Hopes of Company Split

Bwin.Party shares shot up Tuesday on news that the online gambling firm is considering a split.

More specifically, the Financial Times reported that Bwin.party was “working on a plan to spin off its unregulated operations into a separate company.”

Bwin.party is looking to aggressively take on the US market.  They have already inked a deal with Boyd Gaming to run Atlantic City’s Borgata’s online poker site.

Bwin.party stock rose 3.9 percent on Tuesday to close at 135.9p.  This is the firm’s best performance in nearly three months.
