While the girlfriend of slain Australian mobster Pasquale Barbaro has had to deal with death threats and a constant barrage of pornographic fake social media accounts claiming to be hers, a hitman tied to Barbaro implicated the dead man in another murder plot.

In the murder trial of one time debt collector Joseph Antoun, gunned down outside his home on December 16, 2013, the hitman told the Downing Centre District Court that Barbaro and another man, Les Elias, offered Brothers 4 Life Blacktown chapter leaders Farhad and Mumtaz Qaumi the hefty sum to kill Antoun.

From Yahoo News:

The hitman, known as Witness L, testified on Thursday that during a party in December 2013 at The Star Casino in Sydney, he asked the Qaumis who owned the black Lamborghini they were driving.

They said they got the car from Barbaro as ransom until they get paid, he said.

The phrase, "until they get paid", referred to the money they were to be paid by Barbaro for the killing of Antoun, crown prosecutor Ken McKay said.

Barbaro, who has ties to one of Australia’s most notorious crime families, was gunned down nearly three weeks ago outside his car in Sydney.  Nine arrests were made in that case this week with four of those men charged in Barbaro’s murder.

Meanwhile, the mobster’s girlfriend, identified as Chantel Baptista, tells the Daily Mail she has been tormented by an unknown troll posting abusive pictures and captions under a username similar to her own.  He even referred to her as a “dog”, which clearly she is not if you check out her pics.

'This is being dealt with by the police and is in their hands,' said Ms Baptista's friend.

'The account was fraudulent and the images posted were not of her'.

An Instagram profile associated with the Internet troll was swiftly removed from social media on Wednesday.

Ms Baptista has tried to avoid the limelight in the weeks since Barbaro’s death and claims she is still in mourning, wanting to be left alone.
