The online gambling website Bookmaker.com released odds on the Egyptian uprising around the time things were just starting to get heated. In addition to publishing odds on whether Hosni Mubarak would leave Egypt within a certain period of time, the oldest established North American sportsbook also raised some eyebrows with its odds on the next likely uprising. Turkey and Israel were among the favorites.
Newsweek reporter, Ross Schneiderman, featured Bookmaker’s odds on the next country to go through civil unrest, and it calculated the amount of money one can make by betting in each category. The magazine is one of the most reputable publications worldwide and is distributed in Asia, Latin America and Europe.
