Intrade.com has just released a new market over the weekend on whether Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be arrested by British police following word that the nation of Ecuador has granted the controversial activist/publisher political asylum in its London embassy.
The odds of this occurring as of Monday August 20, 2012 were at 10 percent based on market activity.
Assange is wanted by Swedish authorities for questioning in a “sexual misconduct” investigation, though the real fear appears to be future extradition to the United States following Wikileaks publication of sensitive war documents.
“As WikiLeaks stands under threat, so does the freedom of expression and the health of our societies," Assange outside the balcony of the Ecuador embassy. "I ask President Obama to do the right thing: the United States must renounce its witch-hunt against WikiLeaks."
