Economic Stimulus Package: What Would Jesus Do?

If Jesus had passed an economic stimulus package similar to the one President Obama has proposed, we would still be paying for it.  So says 2012 Libertarian Presidential hopeful, Wayne Allyn Root.

"If you spent $1,000,000 per day since the day that Jesus Chris was born until today, you still wouldn't be at $1 trillion. That's how expensive this stimulus plan is!" Root said in a rant obtained by Gambling911.com Thursday afternoon.

Root will be interviewed on Monday February 16, 2008 at 3:35 PM EST/12:35 PM PST by Lou Dobbs on the nationally-syndicated "Lou Dobbs Show."

Lou Dobbs, who is perhaps better known for his popular CNN show "Lou Dobbs Tonight" declared that, in recent comments about the state of the economy, President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have been "fear-mongering" and "blatantly using the politics of fear to push for even more so-called stimulus measures."

Economic stimulus legislation at the heart of President Barack Obama's recovery plan is on track for final votes Friday in the House and Senate after a dizzying final round of bargaining that yielded agreement on tax cuts and spending totaling $789 billion.

Obama, who has campaigned energetically for the legislation, welcomed the agreement, saying it would "save or create more than 3.5 million jobs and get our economy back on track."

House Financial Services Chairman, Barney Frank, has been among the biggest supporters of the Obama stimulus package.

Frank has also vowed to repeal laws making online gambling illegal in an effort to boost the national economy.  Online gambling is a multi-billion dollar industry that has yet to feel the pinch of financial belt-tightening.

"I think if we do this right we should make online gaming legal and subject it to a reasonable taxation like anything else," Congressman Frank told Gambling911.com's Jenny Woo regarding upcoming legislation he hopes to pass related to legalized online gambling and its effort to help the economy.  "This does not conflict in our effort to stimulate the economy.  This isn't bad for the economy."

And if online gambling were legalized when Jesus was born, chances are that nation would have paid back that trillion dollars before the Roman Empire collapsed.
