A Buenos Aires judge has ordered the 888.com website to be made inaccessible to city residents because it violates local gambling laws. The ruling forces 888 operating subsidiary Cassava Enterprises to block access to the 888.com and 888.com.ar sites by Buenos Aires residents, and follows similar moves against Bwin and Victor Chandler's Argentine-facing sites last year.
"Sounds just like what is happening in Kentucky," commented Joe Brennan, Jr., founder of the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association
Brennan, Jr.'s trade organization prevented the commonwealth from seizing some 141 online gambling related domain names late last year.
888.com does not appear to have received any formal warning to cut off the site from Buenos Aires residents.
