PokerStars Sets Record For Single Tournament Entries

The results are in. PokerStars - them world's largest online poker site has shattered the Guinness World Record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. As part of PokerStars' 'World Record Week', 35,000 poker players - enough to fill a professional football stadium - took part in the special $11 buy-in tournament on Sunday, December 28, 2008, with PokerStars guaranteeing a $500,000 prize pool. Best Damn Poker Show Returns For Second Season

UltimateBet announced Tuesday that the Best Damn Poker Show, featuring Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth, will return for a second season with the first episode set to air on FSN January 12.

The show aims to determine which poker legend, Duke or Hellmuth, can better teach Texas Hold'em to 24 aspiring poker players in reality television format. Each telecast of the 7-episode series will be repeated at 11pm and 12:30am and additional footage will be showcased exclusively online.

ESPN to Broadcast World Series of Poker Europe

Judging by the ratings success of the delayed World Series of Poker final, it might not surprise many that ESPN will now be broadcasting the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE).

Kentucky Forecast For Gambling Domains Not Clear

A Kentucky Court of Appeals is expected to issue a ruling shortly on whether the commonwealth can seize 141 online gambling domain names.

Jennifer Brislin, a spokeswoman for the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, told PC World that the agency sought to shut down the gambling sites last year to protect Kentucky citizens from an "illegal, unregulated and untaxed industry." The state argued that the sites promoted online gambling activities that are illegal in Kentucky.
