€170,030 for the IPT7 Malta2 Champ as Event Reaches 947 Players

A massive Day 1b for the €1,100 IPT7 Malta2 Main Event brought the final numbers up to 947 participants (224 + 723 including three no-shows), creating a €918,590 prize pool.

135 places will be paid with the eventual champ taking a €170,030 first prize while a min cash is worth €1,810.

Back in March, it was Greek pro Georgios "ZISIMO7" Zisimopoulos who became the champion, scooping €142,205 along with the title and trophy. The 27-year-old from Athens, who qualified on PokerStars for his title-defending campaign, entered today and will return to a healthy 70k-chip stack after dinner break.

ITALIANS ACCOUNT FOR QUARTER OF IPT MALTA FIELD

There hasn't been any doubt about the Italians having the strongest representation in the IPT Malta Main Event field, just like they did back in March. But this time, the number of Italian arrivals at Portomaso Casino has grown by a mile with 248 competitors (26% of the field). That makes it a 158% increase on March's 96 entrants.

Meanwhile, French players came in second with 80 participants (8%) and the UK third with 62 (7%). Overall, the IPT Malta Main Event has attracted players from 57 different countries. Please see below for the pie chart.
