A semi-scientific study conducted during the past week shows that more than two-thirds of America thinks Donald Trump will have the last laugh after Thursday's presidential debate.  It's interesting to note that BetOnline does currently have Trump winning the debate against Joe Biden.

The infomap below is based on geotagged Twitter/X data from the last seven days, which tracked tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases about who will win the debate. The candidate with the most "win" tweets from each state subsequently took that state.

For example, keyword phrases like "Trump will win the debate," "Trump will probably win the debate," "Trump is going to win the debate," "Biden will win the debate," etc. were used in the study. More than 200,000 tweets were tracked in total.

Many states followed recent Red vs. Blue trends, however, some of the states that voted for Biden in 2020 seem to believe Trump will win the debate (Virginia, for example).

Here's the state-by-state breakdown:

Trump - 34 states (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming)

Biden - 16 states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington)
