In what could truly shake up the November US Presidential elections, third party candidate, Bob Barr, has written a letter to long time Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, asking if he would become his running mate.

This wouldn't faze Barr's current running mate, Wayne Root, who sat down with Gambling911.com's own Jenny Woo recently to discuss the Libertarian party and its goals.

Root said: "I am willing to sacrifice anything to advance the cause of liberty, freedom, smaller government and to enable the American taxpayer to keep more of their own money and property. Understanding Dr. Ron Paul's reputation and name recognition in the freedom movement, I am willing to step aside as Libertarian vice presidential candidate if he would be willing to take my place."

Barr is hoping a Barr/Paul ticket would unify the "liberty movement." He wrote in the letter to Paul: "I ask that you join the Libertarian presidential ticket as the vice presidential candidate. While you declined my offer to seek the Libertarian presidential nomination, many months ago, I ask that you seriously consider this final offer as an opportunity to show true, lasting leadership beyond party politics."

There is one small problem. Ron Paul is a Republican and he has refused to change his party affiliation even while running for President himself. Dr. Paul developed a huge following and raised tremendous amounts of money through Internet "money bombs" but failed to receive the GOP nomination. Paul also received more votes than GOP nominee, John McCain, in some state primaries.

Paul has refused to endorse McCain and has gone on record suggesting that voters should support a third party candidate, including Bob Barr.
