CNN confirmed on Wednesday that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican, had canceled an interview promoting her newly released book "No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward", released on Tuesday May 7.

Noem has come under heavy scrutiny after The Guardian got its hands on an advance copy and let the cat out of the bag - so to speak.  Excerpts from the book included Noem shooting and killing her 14 month old puppy for "ruining a hunting trip", throwing it in a ditch.  As if that weren't shocking enough, Noem writes of killing a "nasty" goat that same day.

The backlash came in all directions, from Democrats and Republicans.  In fact, some of the harshest criticism did come from her base.

That sent Noem's vice presidential odds plunging from 10-1 to 50-1 in just under two weeks.

Appearances on what would be considered "more friendly" outlets like Newsmax and Fox Business turned into complete disasters over the weekend.  Noem wanted to talk about the border and other "real topics that Americans care about", the network hosts wanted to discuss what much of America is talking about, how someone could be as heartless to kill a 14 month old puppy.

And local South Dakota media isn't letting her off easy either.

After the cancelation of her interview on CNN, the panel stated that the response Noem has been giving in previous interviews comes across as “funny” and said, “She’s a public official, she’s the governor, she put in her book these details and then the proceeds to get upset when the press asks her about these details.”

As backlash continues to surface on Noem’s memoir and questions are asked about its contents, she looks to other avenues to take away attention.

They don't say which avenues those might be.  Maybe hiding?

Customer reviews of the book on Amazon are pretty doggone limited, as the company reportedly has been in overdrive getting rid of mean reviews.

“We want Amazon customers to shop with confidence knowing that the reviews they see are authentic and trustworthy,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement to The Daily Beast. “If we notice unusual reviewing activity, we will occasionally limit reviews to verified purchases only.”

Gambling911 was still able to grab one before it gets deleted.

"Author boasts of killing animals in cold blood and then lies about meeting a dictator. Don't waste your time or money."

Other outlets caught this earlier and since deleted review:

“Filled with lies, and violence against animals.” “She shot her puppy in the head,” the reviewer grumbled. “Enough said.”

It's safe to say Governor Noem has jumped the shark.  Let's be grateful she's landlocked.  At least the seals, whales and sharks are pretty safe.
