Former Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney declared Wednesday night that, not only will she not be voting for the GOP nominee and former U.S. president Donald Trump, she will be voting for the Democratic nominee, the current vice president, Kamala Harris.

Cheney becomes the latest high profile Republican to endorse Harris.

Cheney's comments took place during an appearance at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.

“Because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris,” Cheney said in a video of remarks posted to X. The university separately provided a clip of Cheney’s remarks to NBC News.

The former congresswoman said in her remarks that it is “crucially important” for people to understand that people do not have “the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states.”

Cheney had previously served as one of two Republicans on a Jan. 6 commission tasked with investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the nation's Capitol.

As of 7:30 pm ET Wednesday, Trump was once again a slight favorite to be elected president in November at -120 odds compared to Harris' +100.

These odds had not budged in days at -110 apiece.  It's unclear what moved the odds on Wednesday evening.

A CNN/SSRS poll released Wednesday showed Harris leading Trump in Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin, but all within or just barely outside the margin of error. The candidates are tied at 47 percent in Pennsylvania, and Trump leads Harris by 5 points in Arizona.
