Black Poker Pro Eases on Down the Road to Success

Can you name a professional poker player who is black and not named Phil Ivey?

Probably not, and that's the problem.

The problem for professional poker, that is.

Pro poker, an activity with about as much diversity as a meeting of the Pat Boone Fan Club, desperately wants to appeal more to black America but it has a huge dearth of talent available for that particular role.

The only top poker pro who is black is Ivey, and he famously shuns most press attention--he has as much interest in growing the game as George W. Bush has in reading a book.

Phil Ivey Looks Stoned

He may have been perfectly sober for all we know, but a set of photos that popped up of poker pro Phil Ivey appear to have caught the player at an especially “bad” time.

“He looks either stoned or drunk,” observed Gambling911.com’s own Thomas Somach.  Emphasis on the word “look” since we weren’t exactly there to administer a blood test.

The photos in question were taken during an event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

To be fair, one does not necessarily associate Ivey and his squeaky clean image with drinking or recreational drugs.

Isildur1 vs. Daniel Negreanu Lands Kid Poker in the Black

The high stakes online poker challenge pitting two of today’s most recognized players against one another - Isildur1 vs. Daniel Negreanu – turned into one for the ages.

After destroying Negreanu last week, Isildur1 found himself on the losing end as Kid Poker stormed back to complete the two part challenge.  He ended up $26,500 in the black when all was said and done.

Ivey Goes Online Finally

Famously publicity-shy poker pro Phil "Poison" Ivey has decided to enter the 21st century.

He's starting his own website.

Finally.

The address for the new website is www.philivey.com but don't expect just yet to visit the site and glean the secrets of Ivey's vast poker success or otherwise read/hear/see any golden nuggets of poker wisdom.

The website is up, but it's not.

A visit to www.philivey.com this afternoon reveals that, yes, there finally is a Phil Ivey website but, no, it doesn't have any information on it yet.

Prahlad Friedman Calls out Isaac Haxton and Justin Bonomo for Account Sharing

UB.com poker pro Prahlad Friedman has called out fellow players Haxton and Bonomo for alleged “account sharing”.

Iassac Haxton and Justin Bonomo share and switch accounts often. Was playing random guy and looked up his stats. Identical to Hax.

Haxton knows I don't want to play him head up. So scummy.

Beware of their scummy tactics.

They have been doing this to me for years. No more.

The online poker sites have taken pretty drastic actions against “account sharing”.  Witness:  Full Tilt Poker.

Online Poker: One Star Rises While Another One Crashes

Courtesy of AintLuck.com

The bigger they are, the harder they fall…the cream rises to the top…The rich get richer.  All three of these statements are pretty common figures of speech. Additionally, all three are good descriptions of the last 24 hours in the nosebleed online poker games as one poker legend reminded all why he is arguably the greatest, while the hottest young player in the game reminded us all that he is just as likely to lose an obscene dollar figure as he is to winning.
