Odds on the Iran vs. Spain matchup had Spain as a 1/5 favorite and Iran at long 20/1 odds.  This was expected to be a very lopsided matchup.

Iran has four wins and two losses over their last six games.

Iran have suffered a blow with defender Rouzbeh Cheshmi ruled out of the rest of the tournament after suffering a muscle injury in training.  This could get ugly as a result.

Spain has not lost in six and have four wins over that time.

This will be the first meeting between these two sides.

Iran are winless against European opposition at the World Cup, having lost five of their six previous fixtures (D1).

In their 1-0 victory over Morocco, Iran became the first team since 1966 to score a goal without attempting a shot in a half of World Cup football – their winning goal came courtesy of a 90th minute own-goal by Morocco’s Aziz Bouhaddouz.

Diego Costa has scored eight goals in his last eight international starts for Spain.

There is a temptation to go with the OVER 3.5 but OVER 2.5 has some value (and some insurance we suppose) at 4/5 odds at some books.
