Japanese Gambling Tycoon Bribed Filipinos: US Suit
(AFP) - WASHINGTON — Japanese gambling tycoon Kazuo Okada was accused Tuesday in a US lawsuit of paying off Philippine regulators and cheating his powerful Las Vegas partner.
Wynn Resorts said Okada, Japan's pachinko king and a director of Wynn, went behind the company's back to develop business for his own Universal Entertainment group in the Philippines and broke US laws on foreign bribery, the lawsuit alleges.

Peter Eastgate Signs on With Betfair Poker
2008 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Peter Eastgate has signed on to represent Team Betfair Poker.
The popular Danish player, who was last seen jumping off a bridge into a frigid canal after losing a $6000 prop bet, hasn’t exactly had the greatest impact on the live poker circuit of late. He only won $14,345 in 2011. In late 2010, Eastgate retired from poker, only to return a few months later (February to be exact).

Players looking for their funds are being redirected to the new “provisions” page, which simply states US players are no longer able to play online poker at Everleaf.
Nine of Top Ten Online Poker Rooms See Drop Off in Traffic
The second straight week of declines occurred with a 3 percent drop off in traffic for online poker rooms. Some of this could be attributed to the extended President’s Day weekend holiday in the US.
PokerScout.com also noted that Everleaf’s pullout from the US market only resulted in a 16 percent drop in overall traffic. They noted that the network’s reliance on the US market was much less than had been previously believed.

(PTI) - Socialite Paris Hilton had extra reason to celebrate during her birthday trip to Las Vegas after winning USD 30,000 on a game of blackjack.
The heiress jetted off to Sin City with her family to mark her turning 31 on February 17, and Hilton won the lump sum when they headed out to the Wynn casino for the evening.

Iowa Subcommittee Approves Legalized Online Poker
An Iowa Senate subcommittee on Monday approved a bill that would legalize online poker in that state.
The vote came against opposition from family values groups like Family Leader.
“This is just the beginning," said Danny Carroll, a Family Leader official and former state lawmaker. "The people of Iowa do not want it," he said, citing Iowa and national polls indicating a plurality of opposition to legalizing online poker.
Carroll has asked the three-member Senate panel to consider the dangers legalized online poker might have on families.

PayPal Founder Donates $1.7 Million to Ron Paul Campaign
The co-founder of the popular online payment platform PayPal, Peter Thiel, donated $1.7 million last month to a super PAC supporting GOP Presidential hopeful Ron Paul.
In total, Thiel has donated $2.6 million to the Endorse Liberty super PAC created last year to aid the Paul campaign.
All four Republican candidates are in the process of filing fundraising reports for the month of January along with their super PACs. These must be submitted to the Federal Election Commission today.
The Texas Congressman has long been an advocate for one’s right to gamble online.

Harry Reid: ‘No Internet Poker in Payroll Tax Extension Bill’
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday put an end to rumors that a measure to legalize Internet poker might be attached to a Payroll Tax Extensions bill.
He declared Thursday that the bill does not contain any such Internet poker attachment.

Belgium Brutal Clampdown on Internet Gambling: Players to Face Fines of €25,000
Belgium is the latest country to clamp down on unlicensed Internet gambling operations, some of which are now appearing on a blacklist.
Operators stand to pay fines from €100 to €100,000 while players could be fined as much as €25,000. Players must check to determine if a website is licensed or else face a visit from local police, who will have access to the nation’s blacklist.
