Ukraine Novice Poker Player Oleksii Kovalchuk Wins WSOP Bracelet

Ukraine- based poker player Oleksii Kovalchuk has won the World Series of Poker Omaha - Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8 or Better event.

Amazingly, Kovalchuk has only recently learned how to play the game, honing his skills while participating in champion league tournaments.

Jan-Peter Jachtmann, Ronnie Bardah latest WSOP Bracelet Winners

The latest World Series of Poker results have Jan-Peter Jactmann winning a bracelet and $661,000 at Event #39:  Pot Limit Hold’em while Ronnie Bardah won a bracelet and $188,022 in Event #40:  Limit Hold’em Six-Handed.

Germany’s Jachtmann has just over $1 million in live winnings following this weekend’s victory.  This is his first bracelet, 3rd tournament win and 29th cash.

The Ramifications of Legalized Online Poker in Delaware Could Prove Significant

On the surface, the potential for legalized online poker in The First State of Delaware doesn’t look like it will have much of an impact.  After all, Delaware barely has a population of 800,000.  Unless there’s highway construction, it only takes a few blinks of the eye before one is in and out of Delaware driving along I-95 between New Jersey and Maryland/Washington, DC.  Be sure to FOLLOW GAMBLING911.COM ON TWITTER as we will be monitoring developments on the Delaware front throughout the coming week.

WSOP Results: David Baker, Dung Nguyen Win Bracelets

Two more WSOP bracelets were handed out overnight Friday, one to David Baker and another to Dung Nguyen.

For both men, it was their first World Series of Poker bracelets.

Baker won the Eight Game Mix and pocketed $271,312.  He now has just shy of $2.7 million in live winnings to date, having cashed out in 83 events.

Sprint Poker Goes Live at Bet365

Sprint Poker, a fast fold poker platform being offered by Bet365, is the first to go live using Playtech’s Speed Hold’em

The new product was expected to debut in July but Bet365 apparently decided it did not want to wait that long. 

Speed Hold’em mimics the popular model based on the now defunct Rush Poker, which allows quick fold pre-flop and easy transfer to a new table.

Antonio Esfandiari Misses Out on 2nd Bracelet: Craig McCorkell Wins WSOP Shoot Out

Antonio Esfandiari finished 3rd at the 3,000 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em Shootout Event #36 Thursday night but did manage to walk away with a cool $151,613.  Esfandiari was deprived of his second World

Craig McCorkell won the most recent championship event, played at the 2012 World Series of Poker.  He overcame a strong field of 587 players en route to his first major tournament victory, which took place in the No-Limit Hold'em Shootout (Event #36).

Nevada Gives Final Approval to William Hill, Others

The Nevada Gaming Commission has officially granted licenses to William Hill, Bally Technologies and International Game Technology to operate online gambling and, in the case of Hill, sports betting operations within the Silver State.

Antonio Esfandiari Looking for Second WSOP Bracelet

Poker pro Antonio Esfandiari was in search for his second World Series of Poker bracelet at the No-Limit Hold'em Shootout (2,000 player max) event Thursday night.

Esfandiari has cashed out 39 times over his career with 4 first place finishes.  He has accumulated over $4.2 million in live poker earnings over his playing career.

Delaware Online Gambling: Only Church Groups, Harness Racing Interests Stand in Way

Delaware appears to have little opposition in its attempt to pass a measure legalizing online gambling, including Web poker, in the state.  Delaware is the first state to openly express an interest in forming state compacts.  Both Rhode Island and West Virginia have been mentioned at the onset.

First Japanese Poker Player to Win World Series of Poker Bracelet: Naoya Kihara

Naoya Kihara has become the first Japanese poker player to win a World Series of Poker bracelet.

Kihara won the $5,000 buy-in Six-Handed Pot-Limit Hold’em championship and the $512,029 that came with it. 

This is the 30-year-old professional’s second time to cash in a WSOP event and the second year he has traveled from Tokyo to Las Vegas to play at the World Series of Poker.

Chris Tryba Wins Mixed Hold’em Event at 2012 World Series of Poker

Chris Tryba has won the Mixed Hold’em event at the 2012 WSOP.

Tryba defeated a man who already has a gold bracelet to his credit, Erik Cajelais, with a straight flush.  The event came to an abrupt halt when Cajelais shoved all-in on the river holding the nut straight only to have Tryba give a smile and a nod before calling, screaming out to his fans on the rail, "Straight flush, baby!"

Intertops.com Stops Accepting New US Players Unless Invited

While no official statement has been released by Intertops.com, the oldest online gambling site in the world has stopped accepting new US registrants for the time being in all spaces unless invited by other players.  This includes sports betting, poker and its online casino. 

The decision appears to have been made without much notice as only yesterday the following tweet was made by Intertops:

Shulmans are Third Married Couple to Win World Series of Poker Bracelets

Much was made this week about the news that Allyn Shulman, wife of Card Player magazine owner Barry Shulman, had won a World Series of Poker (WSOP) championship gold bracelet.

Facebook to Allow app Developers to Charge for Subscriptions

NEW YORK, N.Y. – (Associated Press) - Facebook is letting app developers charge subscription fees, in addition to existing one-time payments, for games and other applications on its site.

Facebook Inc. said on its developer blog Tuesday that the subscription feature will be available in July. The changes open up a new revenue stream for developers as well as for Facebook, which takes a 30 per cent cut from all payments on its site.
