Stephen Chidwick Atop EPT Barcelona €50K Super High Roller Event

Another busy day at the EPT12 Barcelona Poker Festival Saturday as a staggering 81 unique players showed up for the €50k Super High Roller.

Twelve players opted to re-enter and brought today's number to 93 entries. It's another record-breaking event for EPT Barcelona - there were 77 entries last season.

Shocking Mob Funeral: ‘You Conquered Rome, Now You’ll Conquer Paradise’

It was a funeral like no other: flowers thrown from a hovering helicopter, horse drawn carriages and “Godfather’ songs blaring from speakers.  You would have thought it was a wedding.

Mourners were left horrified at the funeral of Italian mobster Vittorio Casamonica, 65, a marginal member of the local Casamonica family.  Now the Mayor of Rome, where the observances took place, wants to know how this could have happened.

Malta Changes Online Gambling Policies in Light of Recent Raids, Scandal

Record Breaking Field of 3292 Players at 2015 Estrellas Barcelona Main Event

A record-breaking field of 3,292 players from 81 countries entered this season's €1,100 Estrellas Barcelona Main Event creating a €3,193,240 prize pool.

The winner will take home €491,000 with 487 finishing in the money and a min-cash worth €1,755. Spain accounts for 18% of the field with 590 players, followed by France with 14% (445 players) and Italy (8%, 251).

The biggest event of this season's EPT Barcelona Poker Festival is under way with 59 players already registered (beating last year's record for this event of 58 unique players)

Hugo Pingray Tops Estrellas Barcelona Coming Into Weekend

French pro Hugo Pingray is leading the 485 players who made it through the final start day of Estrellas Barcelona Friday.

The WSOP bracelet winner has 290,900, but is still behind several of Day 1b's players; the current chip leader is EPT Vienna finalist Pablo Gordillo from Spain who returns for Day 2 with 353,100.

Day 1c attracted at least 1,570 players which, combined with the 1,122 Day 1b entries and 592 on Day 1a, means the event is well over the 3,200 player mark and has easily surpassed last season's record-breaking 2,560-strong field.

Pablo Gordillo Leads at End of Estrellas Day 1B

Pablo Gordillo is leading the 330 players left at the end of Day 1b of the €1,100 Estrellas Main Event. The 22-years-old spanish player has 353.100 chips.

There were 1,122 entries today which, combined with yesterday’s 592-strong field and the 1,000+ players already registered for Day 1c tomorrow, means Estrellas Barcelona has again beaten its own record. Last season, 2,560 players entered the €1,100 event; this season the total is at least 2,760 and may well be substantially higher than that.

GVC Holdings Once Again Increases Offer for Bwin.party: Talks ‘Very Positive’

(Reuters) - British online gambling company GVC Holdings Plc may increase its offer for rival Bwin.party Digital Entertainment Plc for a third time, a source close to GVC said on Thursday.

The source said GVC and Bwin had been in talks over the past week and that Bwin's response had been "very positive".

The talks centred around synergies between the two companies, according to the source, who declined to be identified because the matter is confidential.

2015 Estrellas Day 1A Breakdown

A huge field turned out for Day 1a of the €1,100 Estrellas Main Event today, the first big tourney of EPT Season 12.

The 592-strong field was a 35% increase on last year's 438 players but, by the end of the day (12 x 45-minute levels), just 166 players remained. Spain's Fernando Heredia is the chip leader with 336,200; he won his seat in a live satellite yesterday.

The Goliath 2015 Won by Miikka Toikka: Biggest Poker Tournament Outside of WSOP

Miikka Toikka was declared the winner of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) and the Goliath.  It is considered the biggest poker tournament ever held outside of Las Vegas and the World Series of Poker.

Toikka, a British-based poker pro, walked away with a cool £70,800.  He outlasted 4,119 opponents to claim the £70,800 top prize.

This year's Goliath featured a £120 buy-in and smashed the £250,000 guarantee with a £421,000 prize pool.
