Jenny Woo: “Doyle Brunson Went All In, Lasted Barely Two Minutes”

Did anyone notice how fast poker legend Doyle Brunson went from “I won’t be attending this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event” to “Deal me in”.

A few people seem to be crediting our beloved Jenny Woo for providing a little last minute enticement:  “Come to the Punta Cana Poker Classic this November and I will make it all worth your time”.

And Doyle need not worry about being one of those “two minute men” (which is about how long he lasted at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event).  She’s had her fair share.

2011 World Series of Poker Main Event Attendance Likely Close to Last Year’s Numbers

Day 1A of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event has drawn 897 people.  Last year’s first day attendance number was not that much higher at 1125.

Organizers of the WSOP expect more than last year’s mark of 7319 despite the events of April 15 Black Friday indictments against PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker.  The later two are yet to pay back US players.

The first day’s attendance is typically the lowest.  Last year’s number jumped up around 400 but the final two days drew approximately 1000 more.

Report: Full Tilt Poker Deal Could be “On the Table” by End of Next Week

eGaming Review is reporting that a deal could be “on the table” to purchase Full Tilt Poker by late next week.

“On the table” and “Sealed” are two completely different things.  Full Tilt Poker, as we already know, comes with plenty of baggage.  This is a company that hasn’t paid US players in close to three months now and the European players are currently experiencing delays after FTP’s licensing arm shut them down last week.

Mickey Mouse’ old boss, Eric Hollreiser, is now working for the world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars.

The company made the announcement on Thursday that it had hired Hollreiser as Head of Corporate Communications.  Hollreiser comes to PokerStars after holding executive positions at Disney and Microsoft.  He joins the firm at a time of transition following the indictment of two PokerStars executives by US authorities on April 15.

European Online Poker Sites Quick to Roll Out Huge Bonuses in Face of Full Tilt “Demise”

With the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) suspending Full Tilt Poker’s license last week, European online poker sites have not hesitated to raise their bonus offerings.

“Not only are they rushing to grab hold of Full Tilt Poker’s customers, these sites are also in competition with one another to provide new signups with the very best bonuses out there,” noted Payton O’Brien, Gambling911.com Senior Editor.

Operators have made no qualms about capitalizing on Full Tilt’s plight.
