The amended version of AB258 directs the Nevada Gaming Commission to begin drafting rules to regulate online poker.  It stipulates that Nevada would not begin offering online poker until permitted by the US Congress and Justice Department.  The measure is being pushed by PokerStars, the largest Internet poker room in the world.

EPT Berlin Final Table 2011 Determined

The EPT Berlin Final Table for 2011 has been decided with 8 seats and 6 different country representations.  Three of the eight finalists reside in the host country of Germany.

The PokerStars.comsponsored EPT Berlin made headlines last year when a brazen armed robbery occurred just as the final table was winding down.  Let’s hope there is not a repeat of that situation this year.  All suspects in that robbery have since been captured.

2011 EPT Berlin: 24 Players Remain

German poker player Daniel Pidun led the pack at the 2011 EPT Berlin after Day 3 with only 24 players left out of 773.  Pidun is not a household name in the world of poker.

Germany still had 7 representatives among the 24 left, including the second place position.  Russia, Sweden and Italy also enjoyed strong showings with a total of three Russians and two Swedes and Italians each.  The only remaining US player was Jeffrey Hakim while Costa Rica had a PokerStars qualifier, Luis Jaikel.  Costa Rica is the hub of online poker sites catering to North American players.

Black Poker Pro Eases on Down the Road to Success

Can you name a professional poker player who is black and not named Phil Ivey?

Probably not, and that's the problem.

The problem for professional poker, that is.

Pro poker, an activity with about as much diversity as a meeting of the Pat Boone Fan Club, desperately wants to appeal more to black America but it has a huge dearth of talent available for that particular role.

The only top poker pro who is black is Ivey, and he famously shuns most press attention--he has as much interest in growing the game as George W. Bush has in reading a book.

Phil Ivey Looks Stoned

He may have been perfectly sober for all we know, but a set of photos that popped up of poker pro Phil Ivey appear to have caught the player at an especially “bad” time.

“He looks either stoned or drunk,” observed Gambling911.com’s own Thomas Somach.  Emphasis on the word “look” since we weren’t exactly there to administer a blood test.

The photos in question were taken during an event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

To be fair, one does not necessarily associate Ivey and his squeaky clean image with drinking or recreational drugs.
