Tommy Vedes Wins the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown 2012

Tommy Vedes wins the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown, earning $779,520, which includes his $25,500 entry into the season-ending WPT World Championship. Vedes gets his name engraved on the WPT Champions Cup, and receives a WPT Champions Trophy, a Seminole Hard Rock trophy, and a silver Tiffany card protector.

With the win, Vedes lifetime earnings on the live poker circuit are now well over $3 million.

This will be his 49th cashout and 5th 1st place finishes.

Big Names Dominate in Final of EPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown 2012

Approaching the early morning hours of Tuesday April 24, three recognizable names duke it out during the final of the 2012 EPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. It came down to Tommy Vedes vs. John Dolan.

WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown 2012: Joe Serock Leads at the Rock (Video)

Right up the street from the Gambling911.com headquarters in Miami Beach is the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  It is here where the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown 2012 is taking place with Joseph Serock leading the pack after Day 4.

Serock has won $736,469 in live tournaments to date with 26 cashes, though none of these were first place finishes. 

His biggest win to date was the 40th World Series of Poker 2009

Amarillo Slim Still Alive and ‘Fighting Hard’: Brunson Says His “Goodbye”

Poker icon Doyle Brunson revealed he had spoken to Amarillo Slim late Thursday following rumors of him imminent death.

2006 WSOP Champ Jamie Gold to Hunt Ghosts on TV

Poker players have been known to get spooked by a bad beat, but this is ridiculous!

2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jamie Gold is to star in an episode of the reality TV show "Ghost Adventures," it was revealed.

The episode will be the popular program's series finale and is to air at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 27, 2012, on the Travel Channel, an American cable TV network, the show announced.

On the show, the ornery Gold and other celebrities will hunt for ghosts at Vegas' famed Riviera hotel and casino, which according to legend is haunted.

The Thrilla in Manila as First Ever Manila Millions Super High Roller to be Held Friday

In a matter of hours, 25 players are expected to compete for a piece of the $3,000,000 plus prize pool at the first ever Manila Millions Super High Roller tournament, kicking off the 2012 Asian Poker Tour.

Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Johnny Chan, John Juanda, Andrew Robl and Sam Trickett were among those slated to take part in the HKD$1,000,000 ($129,000) buy-in tournament.  A handful of wealthy businesspersons were also likely to join the pros in Friday’s event.

Amarillo Slim Near Death: Brunson Insists his Friend was Not a Child Molester

As Amarillo Slim (real name Thomas Austin Preston, Jr.) lay in critical condition in a hospice preparing to die, fellow poker icon Doyle Brunson has found fit to defend his friend and allegations that he once molested a young girl.

“For the record, no way was he ever a child molester,” Brunson tweeted.

EPT Berlin Day 1b chip leaders had Andreas Vlachos on top prior to the end of the day’s play.  Vlachos is a relative unknown on the live circuit.

Breaking News: Poker Legend Amarillo Slim on Deathbed

One of the greatest poker icons ever, Amarillo Slim, was reportedly in a hospice late Monday evening, April 16, 2012, clinging to life.

Amarillo Slim, whose real name is Thomas Austin Preston, Jr., is 83 years old.

Below is one of Amarillo Slim's last interviews from the 2008 WSOP....

Preston won the main event at the 1972 World Series of Poker and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1992.

Preston has four World Series of Poker bracelets with his most recent win in 1990.

Scott Seiver Wins 2012 PartyPoker Premier League V

Scott Seiver has won the 2012 PartyPoker Premier League V, beating out a star-studded final table that included the likes of Patrik Antonius, Phil Laak, Tony G and Daniel Cates.   

16 players took part in the $125k buy-in event. 

Each player in the PartyPoker Premier League V received $2,000 for each point earned in the preliminary heats, thus helping to boost the overall winnings.

Dusty Schmidt Apologizes for Comparing ‘Black Friday’ to 9/11

Poker pro Dusty "Leatherass" Schmidt has apologized for a thoughtless blog post he made last week comparing Black Friday, the U.S. crackdown last year on online poker, to the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11.

Poker pro Phil Galfond has relocated to Canada following the events of last year whereby his sponsor, PokerStars, had to exit the US market.  Enlisted pros were given the opportunity to relocate and Galfond did just that.

Chris Moneymaker Talks ‘All In – The Poker Movie’

The documentary “All In – The Poker Movie” debuted in theatres this past week to mixed reviews.  Its star, the man who essentially helped generate interest in a fledgling online poker industry back in 2003, Chris Moneymaker, was prominently featured in the film.  That year, Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event as an unknown who entered via an Internet card room satellite.

Daniela Horno led the pack after Day 2 of the 2012 Latin American Poker Tour Chile.

LAPT Season 4 Player of the Year Pablo Gonzalez failed to make the money at this year’s event.
