Tunica Casino to Keep Paula Deen Buffet

Casinos have not been immune to the Paula Deen controversy. 

A handful of casinos have been mulling over dropping the popular Paula Deen Buffet.

Officials at the Tunica, Mississippi Harrah’s have decided to keep the Buffet despite the controversy surrounding Deen’s controversial racial slurs from several years ago.

Deen addressed her comments Friday in separate video statements.

Proposed Ban on Casino Lobbyists Defeated in New York State

Albany, N.Y. (Associated Press) - As New York moves to expand gambling, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders have quietly deleted a proposed ban on accepting campaign contributions from casino operators vying for one of New York's four proposed casinos.

Cuomo had proposed the measure months ago, saying he wanted nothing to do with a mix of politics and gambling that has resulted in some of Albany's biggest corruption scandals.

Simeon Naydenov of Bulgaria Wins WSOP Bracelet

Bulgarian-born Simeon Naydenov came out firing in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout tournament at the 44th Annual World Series of Poker Saturday night. The poker pro wasted little time making his way through the 10-handed final table, besting the field in about five hours.

He earned $326,440 as well as a WSOP gold bracelet for his efforts.

'Gambino Connected’ Online Sports Bookie Pleads Guilty

Douglas Corbin (AKA “Chubby” and “Fat Doug”) has plead guilty for his involvement in a Connecticut-based online sports betting site with ties to Costa Rica.

Corbin plead guilty Thursday to violating federal racketeering laws.

Connecticut State Police and the FBI contend that the 44Wager.com was headed by Dean DePreta, an associate of the Gambino Crime Family from Stanford who previously plead guilty to a RICO conspiracy.

86-Year-Old World Series of Poker Deal Struck by Car, Deceased

A beloved poker dealer at the World Series of Poker has been killed in a pedestrian accident after being struck by an automobile while crossing an intersection. 

86-year-old Richard Charles Turnbull of Reno was hit by the car around 9:30 p.m. near Spring Valley Parkway and Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas.

The WSOP released the following statement upon learning of Turnbull’s death.
