2006 WSOP Champ Jamie Gold to Hunt Ghosts on TV

Poker players have been known to get spooked by a bad beat, but this is ridiculous!

2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jamie Gold is to star in an episode of the reality TV show "Ghost Adventures," it was revealed.

The episode will be the popular program's series finale and is to air at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 27, 2012, on the Travel Channel, an American cable TV network, the show announced.

On the show, the ornery Gold and other celebrities will hunt for ghosts at Vegas' famed Riviera hotel and casino, which according to legend is haunted.

Foxwoods CEO: Competition May Spur Online Gambling

(Associated Press) - - The chief executive of Foxwoods Resort Casino says rising competition is forcing the Indian-run casino in eastern Connecticut to consider online gambling and other changes.

Scott Butera, in an online discussion Thursday with The Day of New London, said supply in the casino business is clearly outpacing demand. Gambling has been legalized in Massachusetts, though casinos are not expected to open for a few years. Casinos in New York also are taking a greater share of the market.

Marc Wright and Thomas Cibak were chip leaders heading into Day 4 of the EPT Berlin 2012.

"I've been pretty lazy but I'm trying to get back into it again now," said Wright. "When you play poker for a living its super easy to get lazy; it's my own fault but I'm going to start playing all EPTs and playing online tournaments properly."

24 players remain in the event including three former winners are vying to become the first double winner.

Massachusetts Rep Wants Three Online Poker Licensees to Pay $10 Mil Each

Norfolk, Massachusetts Republican Rep. Dan Winslow is looking to create three Massachusetts licenses for intrastate internet poker.

Winslow wants to make his colleagues in the House aware of options to generate additional state revenues in the state, according to the Boston Herald.  He hopes to have his measure passed in the House and Senate in the coming months.

The Thrilla in Manila as First Ever Manila Millions Super High Roller to be Held Friday

In a matter of hours, 25 players are expected to compete for a piece of the $3,000,000 plus prize pool at the first ever Manila Millions Super High Roller tournament, kicking off the 2012 Asian Poker Tour.

Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Johnny Chan, John Juanda, Andrew Robl and Sam Trickett were among those slated to take part in the HKD$1,000,000 ($129,000) buy-in tournament.  A handful of wealthy businesspersons were also likely to join the pros in Friday’s event.

Brent Beckley Sentencing Slated for Today (April 19): Headed Up Absolute Poker

One of the individuals caught up in a massive online poker probe last April was scheduled to be sentenced today (April 19, 2012) after pleading guilty to money laundering and bank fraud.

Brent Beckley was an executive and co-founder of the now shuttered online poker firm, Absolute Poker.

Amarillo Slim Near Death: Brunson Insists his Friend was Not a Child Molester

As Amarillo Slim (real name Thomas Austin Preston, Jr.) lay in critical condition in a hospice preparing to die, fellow poker icon Doyle Brunson has found fit to defend his friend and allegations that he once molested a young girl.

“For the record, no way was he ever a child molester,” Brunson tweeted.

Betsson Acquires Nordicbet

Betsson AB (publ) today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire substantial parts of the business of Nordic Gaming Group plc, which is the owner of the NordicBet, TrioBet and Tobet gaming operations. Once the transaction is approved by competent regulatory bodies, the acquisition will be finalized in the end of second quarter 2012.

Betsson is one of the largest Scandinavian online gambling firms offering a wide range of first-class online gambling products and games in a safe and user-friendly gaming environment.

Judge Can Now Accept Misdemeanor Plea in Online Poker Case

A federal judge has confirmed he is prepared to accept a guilty plea from John Campos, one of the men indicted in April of 2011 for handling transactions on behalf of three online poker rooms including Full Tilt, PokerStars and Absolute Poker.

Internet Gambling, Horse Racing Regulated Simulcasting on Agenda in Massachusetts

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is pressing lawmakers and Gov. Deval Patrick to push back a key deadline for the panel to take over the regulation of horse racing and simulcasting, saying the expanded duties will make it harder to get new casinos up and running.

Commission chairman Steven Crosby said Tuesday that the panel will meet the May 20 takeover deadline if needed, but said delaying the change makes more sense for the state.

EPT Berlin Day 1b Chip Leaders

EPT Berlin Day 1b chip leaders had Andreas Vlachos on top prior to the end of the day’s play.  Vlachos is a relative unknown on the live circuit.

Some Strange Occurrences at Full Tilt Poker: All Systems Currently Operational

A frenzy of activity is taking place over on the Full Tilt Poker website, not that it matters much when players are waiting more than a year to get paid.

A systems status report featured a green light with the message:  “all systems are currently operational”.

Investors Unnerved by Playtech Planned Acquisitions: Shares Fall

(Reuters) - Playtech, the world's biggest provider of online gaming software, plans a string of acquisitions as it branches out into the social gaming market but news that it will be buying the businesses from its main shareholder unnerved investors.

The Estonia-based firm said on Tuesday that it planned to spend 95 million euros ($124.1 million) buying assets owned by Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi who founded Playtech and still owns a 48 percent stake in the company.

Purple Lounge Parent Media Corp Looks to Acquire The Poker Channel

Media Corp, parent company to the popular online gambling venue Purple Lounge, is looking to take over The Poker Channel parent company Gaming Media Group (GMG), it was reported on Tuesday. 

Media Corp suspended its shares and issued a statement to the London Stock Exchange Tuesday morning upon announcing its plans.

The Poker Channel launched in 2005 and is seen in the United Kingdom and across 30 territories with a reach of 30 million subscribers.  Most recently, the channel signed on to air programming in France, Mexico and Argentina.

iPoker Pulls Away With Number Two Spot for Most Trafficked Online Poker Room

The iPoker Network has remained on top, assuming we were to remove PokerStars from the equation.  For the better part of nearly 5 months, PartyPoker has held a tight grip on the number two spot of most trafficked online poker rooms in the world.  During the month of March, iPoker has regained the position and currently holds a 200 to 250 on average real cash player lead over Party.
