PokerStars Reduces Rewards for High Stakes Players

In what is being billed as a means of “reform to improve the player’s experience”, PokerStars, the leading real money online poker site, has unveiled changes that may be frowned upon by some of their more high stakes players.

Changes in addition to the reducing of rewards for high-volume and high-stakes players, VIP Club rewards will now be capped at 30%, impacting mainly high-volume Supernova and SupernovaElite status players.

Scottish pro Niall Farrell has won his first major live poker title, taking down the €5,300 EPT12 Malta Main Event for €534,330.

The 28-year-old from Glasgow cut a heads-up deal with Alen Bilic from Bosnia & Herzegovina to seize the title, trophy and cash prize.

Mukul Pahuja Leads Heading Into Final Day of EPT 12 Malta €10K High Roller

Until a week ago, Mukul Pahuja hadn't had even ever cashed on European soil but soon after his arrival here, he finished 17th in the One-Day €10k High Roller for €20,405.

Now the 29-year-old from American is guaranteed another substantial payday in Malta, this time in the regular €10k High Roller. It has to be said that, at the moment, Pahuja stands to do rather better than just a mere cash and has a €430,800 first prize in his sights. He is currently leading the 19 players who will be back for the final day after bagging 1,499,000 chips.

Alexander Ivarsson Continues to be Hot at EPT12 Malta Main Event

It's been an outstanding day for Alexander Ivarsson in the €5,300 EPT12 Malta Main Event. Starting second in chips today, Ivarsson managed to nearly double his stack to bring 2,418,000 for the penultimate day. The clock stopped after Ferdinand Le Pichon's elimination in 17th place with less than four levels played for the day.

SIKORA TAKES LEAD FOR DAY 4 OF EPT12 MALTA MAIN EVENT

Jaroslaw Sikora has been in the spotlight at EPT Malta since Monday when he bagged the biggest stack at the end of Day 1b. He's now leading the EPT12 Malta Main Event once again, with 1,457,000 in chips at the end of Day 3. With 40 players left, Sikora has already improved on his best EPT Main Event finish to date, 45th place at EPT 12 Barcelona in August (for €22,840). But he has done well in Malta before; at the EPT's debut stop on the island in March, Sikora was runner-up in the IPT Malta Main Event for a career-best cash of €97,975.

Sweden’s Alexander Ivarsson Leads After Day 3 of EPT12 Malta Main Event

Portomaso Casino is the EPT's southernmost venue in Europe, but the EPT12 Malta Main Event chip leader hails from Scandinavia with Sweden's Alexander Ivarsson bagging 529,200 to seize the lead for Day 3 with 131 players left (36 eliminations away from the money).

The 27-year-old grew up in Sundsvall and now lives with his wife in Stockholm. The former engineering student is a poker pro and back in March at the EPT Malta debut stop, he cashed three times. He finished 24th in the EPT Main Event back then, which is his best result in the tour's flagship event so far.

Natan Chauskin Takes Massive Lead into IPT7 Malta2 Final Table

Natan Chauskin from Belarus is leading the eight remaining players on the IPT7 Malta2 final table. The 27-year-old built a massive stack of 9,835,000 Saturday, seizing a huge lead over his rivals with Chris "NigDawg" Brammer in second place with 3,580,000.

Chauskin set the final table line-up after busting Franco Arlotta in aces versus kings cooler. Arlotta was the last Maltese standing, finishing ninth for €12,660.

€498,575 for EPT12 Malta €25K High Roller Champ

A first prize of nearly half a million euros is at stake for today's €25k High Roller players with the eventual champ set to walk away with €498,575. There were 74 entries to the tournament (63 unique players + 11 re-entries) creating a €1,813,000 prize pool, to be divvied up between eleven players.

There are currently 18 players remaining and today's plan is to get down to the final table of eight. EPT10 Grand Final High Roller finalist Byron Kaverman from the USA currently holds the lead, followed by EPT Dortmund champion Mike McDonald.

76ers End Partnership Deal With PartyPoker Amidst DFS Scandal

The Philadelphia 76ers have cut their ties with PartyPoker following a scandal that erupted two weeks ago within the Daily Fantasy Sports sector. 

It remains to be seen whether this will cause a domino effect in the professional sports arena with many of the franchises entered into partnerships with DFS firms DraftKings and FanDuel.

While PartyPoker does not offer a Daily Fantasy Sports platform, the sports leagues have come under fire of late for deals that seemingly embrace gambling.

IPT7 Malta Day 1A Gets Under Way

Half a year ago, the EPT made its debut here on the beautiful island of Malta. Now, the tour is back at Portomaso Casino as the PokerStars.com EPT 12 Malta Poker Festival kicked off today at noon (local time).

It's the €1,100 IPT Malta Main Event which is getting the action under way. Last season, Greek pro Georgios "ZISIMO7" Zisimopoulos triumphed here in the record-breaking 1,285-strong tournament, taking home €142,205 after a five-way deal. The 27-year-old Greek will defend his title here after qualifying online on PokerStars.
