Ernest Scherer III, from Oakland, California, was convicted of two counts of first degree murder, committing multiple murders for financial gain and possession of a deadly weapon three years after the March 2008 massacre.

Tom West Emerges Victorious on HPT for $154k

Lincoln, CA (September 28, 2015) - Back in January, Tom West finished third in the Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort for a score of over $64k. It's not easy to improve on a finish of that caliber, but that's exactly what West did Monday. The caterer from Mountain View, California defeated a field of 464 players to capture the HPT Title and $154,590.

She was supposed to have been anointed the winner in an effort to promote an upcoming poker program, so said the conspirators two weeks ago. 

In the end, however, poker pro Vanessa Rousso finished third on this year’s “Big Brother”.

Early reports, now debunked, were carried across the Internet, as well as Gambling911.com:

The claim is that producers of the show want to use her win as a vehicle to promote her new show in which Rousso hosts Vegas poker tournaments.

Duke Lee Finally Wins Heartland Poker Tour Event

Reno, NV  - Duke Lee has played several Heartland Poker Tour events in the past, but it wasn't until Monday that he earned his first HPT Title. The professional poker player from San Francisco beat out a tough group of competitors, including a current November Niner, to lay claim to the $59,494 score and HPT bracelet at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.

Ninth Consecutive Million Dollar HPT Poker Prize Pool in Colorado

The Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado hosted another $1 million plus Heartland Poker Tour Main Event.

Four Day 1 Flights packed 721 entrants and Matthew Shepsky doubled his first hand of the Final Table - he never looked back, going on to win his first HPT title and $227,864.

Europe, Russia More Embracing of Poker, Gambling

ACR DoS Attacks Create Huge Overlay for Million Dollar Sundays: CEO Explains

In conjunction with the start of the new NFL season, Americas Cardroom hosted yet another Million Dollar Sundays event.  But Internet menaces had other plans.

A series of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks Sunday morning prevented many from entering the 3 pm EST tournament, thus creating a huge overlay that will result in a $300,000 loss, admits Americas Cardroom CEO Phil Nagy. The attackers were demanding a large sum of money to be paid in Bitcoin, Nagy confirmed. Mr. Nagy was appearing on Twitch live Sunday afternoon to discuss. You can watch below.

2015 King’s Cup Main event Winner Declared: Jindrich Springl Lifts Trophy

The PokerStars.net King's Cup trophy will stay on the home soil as Jindrich Springl from a small town Unhost beat a 493-entry field to seize the title. Along with the silverware, the 26-year-old Czech scooped €22,920. All eight finalists agreed on a deal prior to the final table kick off with €6k left for the eventual winner and another €4k and €2k for the second and third place finishers.

The newly crowned champion was dealt pocket aces several times on the final table and the card distribution paid off with Sprigl's career's best result.

Eight players bagged their chips after Day 2 of the PokerStars.net King's Cup Main Event to set the Final Table. Seven countries will be represented tomorrow with a Dutch flag waving on top of the chip counts as Danny van der Meer emerged as a leader with 2,770,000 chips. Belgium's Pascal Masset follows in second place, bagging 2,435,000. Jindrich Springl is the only player representing the home country, the Czech is currently sitting in third place with 2,020,000.
