Dan Colman Headlines 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5 Million Guaranteed

One of poker’s top five biggest money earners has made the final table of the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5 Million Guaranteed in Hollywood, Florida.

Daniel Colman will enter the final table with 3,655,000 in chips.  The 24-year-old made news last year after winning the Big One for One Drop and a cool $15 million.

Colman made even more headlines by fleeing the World Series of Poker host casino, the Rio, within five minutes.

Phil Ivey Strong Case Against Casino: Admits It Destroyed Suspect Cards

ATLANTIC CITY – (Associated Press) - A New Jersey casino destroyed playing cards involved in a lawsuit against a professional gambler it says cheated it out of $9.6 million, but only as part of its routine business practices and before it knew of the alleged scheme, according to a legal filing Friday.

Poker is Gambling, Not Skill Judge Rules

A Wisconsin judge has ruled that poker is a prohibited form of gambling, not a game of skill as the Poker Players Alliance has long contended.

Madison Circuit Court Judge Richard G. Niess made his decision this week in the case of Steve Verrett et al vs. J B Van Hollen, the later being Wisconsin’s Attorney General at the time the case was filed in August of 2014.

Man Admits Bringing Counterfeit Chips to Casino Then Flushing Them Down Toilet

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — (Associated Press) - A man admitted Thursday that he brought millions of dollars in counterfeit poker chips to use in a casino's poker tournament, a scheme that was uncovered when he clogged a pipe by flushing the chips down the toilet in his hotel room.

Poker pro Dan Bilzerian, who got his own Emojis this week, has filed a lawsuit against a website claiming he caught a sexual transmitted disease (also known as an STD).

That website is none other than The Dirty, which some say kicked off the Bilzerian phenomenon.  The Dirty has long been known to bust on Bilzerian.

Ladbrokes Shares Fall 0.7 Percent on News of Huge Profit Plunge

Bookmaker Ladbrokes fell 0.7 percent on news of a 44-percent drop in adjusted first-half profit to 24.7 million pounds, reflecting less betting on football and a string of customer-friendly results. Its update was in-line with guidance.

The betting giant had already warned that its revenues were flat at £588.8 million coming into Tuesday's announced financials report.

PA Online Poker Bill Nearly Dead on Arrival

Efforts to legalize online poker will not go through in 2015 due to state budget constraints. 

In an interview with CardPlayer, State rep John Payne ((R-District 106) says iPoker potential depends on what bills Governor Wolf and the General Assembly agree to include in the budget, and so far “nobody knows.”

Spring Owl Investor Jason Ader Wants More Than a Billion for Bwin.Party

Following news last week that GVC had stepped in to outbid 888 Holdings in the acquisition of Bwin.party by offering a billion dollars, Spring Owl investor Jason Ader reportedly says that figure is not good enough.

Ader, who serves on the board of Bwin.party, was influential in arranging the 888 Holdings deal.

But a billion dollars and change will most certainly raise some eyebrows.

The current 888 deal is worth 104.09p per share, and the revised GVC offer is 122.5p per share. Ader wants that to rise to 140p per share.

Bwin.Party Bidding War Not Over as GVC Considers New Takeover Bid

(Reuters) - Online gambling firm GVC Holdings Plc (GVC.L) could make another attempt to buy peer Bwin.party Digital Entertainment (BPTY.L), just days after Bwin accepted a 900 million pound offer from 888 Holdings Plc (888.L).

GVC said on Tuesday it was considering its options regarding Bwin, but there was no certainty it would make a new offer.

Poker Player Killed in Plane Crash: Passenger Seriously Injured

A Canadian poker player was killed Saturday while attempting to take off in his ultralight aircraft when it crashed into a neighbor’s barn.  His passenger was seriously injured.

Bwin.party Sees Shares Skyrocket Friday Following Blockbuster Deal

Shares in Bwin.party Digital Entertainment were up following Friday’s confirmation that 888 Holdings had agreed to buy the stock in a cash and stock deal worth around £898.3m, beating a rival offer from GVC.

The news of the sale was all but certain after the Financial Times and Gambling911.com received notice from key people within the organizations on Thursday afternoon.

Sheldon Adelson Rallies More Support for Anti-Online Gambling Bill

Gambling magnate and GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson has aligned himself with a few more politicians to support his legislation that would ban most forms of online gambling, including poker, at the federal level.
