Amaya Outlines Future Plans for PokerStars

(Reuters) - Amaya Inc, which recently acquired online gambling sites PokerStars and Full Tilt, reported a near eight-fold rise in quarterly adjusted earnings on Tuesday, and outlined plans to seek a secondary listing on the Nasdaq.

The Montreal-based company said it plans to win new clients and supplement growth from its core poker business through expansion into other areas such as sportsbetting, social gaming and fantasy sports.

Jean Montury Wins EPT Malta 2015 for €687,400

Former pool champion Jean Montury has become the first ever EPT Malta champion, taking down the €5,300 event for €687,400. The 40-year-old Frenchman, who runs a hotel and golf complex near Lille, has had numerous results on the tour including three far smaller cashes here in Malta. But his best live result before now was €57,290 for fourth place in the FPS Deauville €2k High Roller.

David Peters Wins EPT Malta €10K High Roller for €597,000

David Peters took down the EPT Malta €10k High Roller today after beating a 304-entry field. Peters banked €597,000 to secure the biggest cash of his career.

He was also rewarded with an exclusive watch from Swiss brand SLYDE, the Official EPT Season 11 Watch sponsor for Main Events and High Rollers. Peters has been a prolific poker player for many years and today's results puts his lifetime live tournament winnings over the $5 million mark; he has also won more than $3 million online on PokerStars.

Nick Petrangelo Leads Final 18 at EPT Malta €10K High Roller

It’s been only a few days since American pro Nick Petrangelo was on the final table of the first High Roller at the EPT Malta Poker Festival - the special added €25k, finishing fourth for €205,900.

And it’s also only a matter of a few months since he made the final of the PCA $25k High Roller, for a lifetime best cash of $301,500 (and also taking down the $5k NL Turbo in the Bahamas for an extra $113,853). Now the 28-year-old from Rhode Island is back again for the final day of the €10k version in Malta and leading the final 18 in the race for a €597,000 first prize.

EPT Malta €10K High Roller Currently Under Way

More than 150 players are already in seats for the EPT Malta €10k High Roller, which started at 1pm today.

As expected, it is a star-studded field including a lot of poker heavyweights. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov is taking part after his runner-up finish in the €2k event yesterday. Katchalov made a heads-up deal with Stephen Chidwick to secure €92,400.

Ifrah Law Wins Dismissal With Prejudice in PokerStars Illinois Class Actions

WASHINGTON — Ifrah Law PLLC, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm focused on complex civil and criminal litigation, won dismissals yesterday in two attempted class actions against PokerStars, the world’s largest publicly traded gaming company.

Judge David R. Herndon granted the motion to dismiss a second amended complaint filed by Kelly Sonneberg and Casey Sonnenberg, while simultaneously dismissing a companion claim brought by the same law firm by plaintiff Daniel and Judy Fahrner against PokerStars’ sister operator Full Tilt.

Sam Chartier Leads for Day 3 of EPT Malta 2015

EPT Barcelona finalist Sam Chartier is leading the 186 remaining players coming back for Day 3 of the €5,300 EPT Malta Main Event. The 30-year-old from Quebec has 455,500. Chartier, a regular on the tour, finished seventh in Spain in Season 5 for €178,000. Other major EPT cashes include third in a Sanremo €10k High Roller and winning a PCA $5k six max in 2011.

Winner of 2015 EPT Malta Main to Receive €810,400

The winner of the inaugural €5,300 EPT Malta Main Event will get €810,400.

There were 895 in the field in total, creating a €4,340,750 prize pool. Six new players bought in today just before play started, including Sorel Mizzi, Olivier Busquet and Dzmitry Urbanovich - who has been so busy winning other events here (three so far) that he only joined the Main Event at the very last moment. They joined the 512 others who survived Day 1a and 1b. A total of 127 players will finish in the money with €9,120 for a min-cash.

Frank Patti Wins 2015 HPT Main Event at Ameristar Casino

Kansas City, MO - Frank Patti led the way from start to finish at Monday's Heartland Poker Tour Final Table to earn the Title and $103,326. The poker player from Gladstone, Missouri beat out over 300 entrants during the Main Event at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on his way to the championship. Patti plans to put his newfound winnings to good use.

Georgios Zisimopoulos Wins IPT Malta for €142,205

Although Georgios "Zisimo7" Zisimopoulos has already won around $2 million online, he has never earned a 6-figure sum at a live event before.

But today the 26-year-old Greek took down the €1,100 IPT Malta Main Event for €142,205 and is the newly-crowned Italian Poker Tour champion. The economics graduate from Athens grabbed the title after cutting a five-way deal. The victory takes him in to Greece's all-time money list top ten with over $440k in live tournament winnings.

Federal Judge to Decide Fate of Poker Pro Paul Phua in FBI Ruse Case

LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) -- A federal judge in Las Vegas could decide the fate of an illegal gambling case against a wealthy Malaysian businessman who says the FBI violated his rights by posing as Internet repairmen to get into his hotel room during the FIFA World Cup last summer.

Defense attorneys for Wei Seng "Paul" Phua want U.S. District Judge Andrew Gordon on Monday to accept a magistrate judge's recommendation to throw out evidence obtained by deceiving a judge who issued a search warrant.

The record-breaking €1,100 IPT Malta Main Event is down to a final table with an EPT champion and several online pros among those fighting for the title, trophy and €221,000 first prize. Flaviano Cammisuli Leads Last 43 Players into IPT Malta Day 4

Italian player Flaviano Cammisuli bagged a promising 2,362,000 chip stack tonight to seize a massive chip lead as the IPT Malta Main Event heads in to Day 4. Cammisuli, who lives here in Malta and works in a sandwich shop and gelateria in nearby Sliema, is way ahead of his followers, but has some tough company just behind him.

Hugo Lemaire Leads at IPT Malta Main Event 2015

Hugo Lemaire took over the chip lead after another six levels of the IPT Malta Main Event.

The Frenchman bagged 689,500 chips at the end of day 2. Lemaire is a well known regular playing both live and online. He has already won over $1.5 million in live tournaments. 
JC Alvarado (579,000) and the Eureka 4 Prague champion Balazs Botond (559,000) are also amongst chip leaders.
