Dogs Do It Again With First Round of NBA Playoffs

Just how many underdogs have won in the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs?

Those dastardly dogs beat the favorites in 6 of the 8 weekend games.

Monday night the Pacers managed to cover against the Bulls with a 96-90 win.  They were +12 underdogs.  Only two Round One Playoffs games were scheduled for Monday with the Heat easily winning Against The Spread, a rare favorite to win.

On Tuesday, the dogs kept on barking.  Both New York and Atlanta covered despite losing outright.

New York blew a golden chance to take the upper hand in the series on Sunday, and still hope to go to Madison Square Garden on Friday tied at one game apiece.

University of San Diego President Plays Down Sports Bribery Scandal

Mary Lyons, President of the University of San Diego, does not believe a recent point shaving scandal that has rocked the school’s basketball program will have any long time effect.

The USD President told the San Diego Union-Tribune Thursday: “The (sports bribery) incidents that have brought our University into the national spotlight are indeed serious, but they do not define us."

The implications are serious nonetheless.

Rays vs. Red Sox Line at Boston -150

Sportsbook.com Line/Total on the Rays vs. Red Sox game: Boston -150 & 9

Now that the Red Sox have brought their fans back from the ledge of a possible 0-9 start by taking two out of three from the Yankees, Terry Francona’s squad will try and achieve another first for the 2011 season: the first winning streak of the year. Standing in the way of that feat will be the Tampa Bay Rays, 1-8, mired in last place, and feeling very confused as the MLB season enters its second full week of play.
