Manny Pacquiao Plans to Sue Floyd Mayweather

The Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather Jr fight has been called off....for now.

We knew it was too good to be true.  This was looking to be one of the most bet on events of 2010 at online sportsbooks like Sports Interaction, which had the fight at near even odds before the cancellation this week.

Kenny Florian Wins UFC 101 in Upset Predicts Bookmaker

The folks at BetUS.com are going out on a limb predicting that Kenny Florian wins his bout against BJ Penn in a UFC 101 Saturday night upset.

The American mixed martial artist with a background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai comes into this one as a smaller underdog than Forrest Griffin (3/1 odds fighting Anderson Silva) but with decent payout potential. Florian would pay almost $2 for every $1 bet or $190 for every $100 bet if he wins his UFC 101 bout.

UFC 101 Betting Could be Hot

In speaking with bookmakers down in Costa Rica last week we learned that the UFC really doesn't attract enough volume to make any serious impact as far as betting goes.

"It just hasn't really caught on compared to some of the big boxing matches like when Manny Pacquiao is fighting," one bookmaker said.  Then he followed up with his:  "UFC 100 was actually pretty good though."

Indeed, UFC 100 attracted a rather sizable number of bettors compared to nearly all other previous UFC or Mixed Martial Arts events.

UFC 101 betting could have a similar impact.

UFC 100 Draws Unusual Amount of Betting Action

Earlier in the week, Gambling911.com featured a story on how Mixed Martial Arts and - more specifically UFC - betting could get hot.

Matt Youmans of the Las Vegas Review Journal spoke to a number of Las Vegas oddsmakers who claimed that, while the UFC continues to gain steam, it is probably less than 1 percent of Nevada's overall sports betting handle.

Las Vegas Hilton sports book director Jay Kornegay called the 1 percent estimate mostly accurate but deceiving.
