Aussie Millions 2012 Event 1: 81 Players Going Home With Cash
The Aussie Millions 2012 Event 1 continues Sunday with 132 players remaining. 81 of those will be cashing out with the winner taking home $200,000.
Event 1 is the No-Limit Hold’em and continues through January 16. Event 2 – Pot-Limit Omaha kicks off on that day. Both events are a $1,000 + $100 buy-in.

Double Down Interactive (DDI) Acquired by Video Poker Giant International Game Technology for $500M
An acquisition of Seattle-based Double Down Interactive (DDI) by video poker giant International Game Technology was announced after the markets closed on Thursday. The deal was for $500 million.

The deal includes $250 million in cash, $85 million in retention payments over the next two years and up to $165 million in cash payable over the next three years subject to Double Down meeting certain targets.

Epic Poker in Acquisition Talks With Pinnacle Entertainment
The fledgling Epic Poker League is reportedly in talks with Pinnacle Entertainment regarding a potential purchase of the league, sources close to WickedChopsPoker.com reported on Wednesday. The deal could occur within the next 60 days.
A previously scheduled event has been pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined April/May date. While the league claims this move was a result of player feedback, others have speculated Epic may be undergoing financial difficulties.

One of online poker’s most successful players, Viktor Blom (better known perhaps by his player handle ‘Isildur1’) has just won the $100K PCA Super High Roller Event and the $1.24 million that went with it.

Jonathan Duhamel Speaks About Home Invasion: “They Threatened My Parents Lives”
A terrified Jonathan Duhamel spoke to the media just one week after a harrowing home invasion left him badly beaten and robbed of his 2010 World Series of Poker bracelet. The suspects, four in total, have been arrested. One of those charged is a former girlfriend of Duhamel’s, Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, who we are learning actually accompanied Duhamel to the WSOP Main Event this past year.
"I've played hockey all my life, so I've had some fights -- but not one like this one," Duhamel, 24, said in an interview Friday.
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2012 to get Live Cards Up Webcast
On Thursday, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) 2012 announced the $10,300 Main Event and the $25,500 High Roller finals will be broadcast as live (with a 40-minute delay) on PokerStars.tv with hole cards revealed, meaning that people all over the world can follow the action online. The broadcast times are as follows:

PartyPoker to Make Multi-Table Tournaments Rake Free in January (2012)
PartyPoker, which has been alternating with rival iPoker Network, for the coveted second most trafficked online poker room, has announced it will make multi-table tournaments rake free during the month of January.
PartyPoker.com attempted a similar scheme back in the summer following the collapse of then number two Web poker room, Full Tilt Poker.
Chris Klodnicki Wins Epic Poker League Main Event Number 3
Chris Kladnicki was crowned the winner of the Epic Poker League Main Event number 3 and the $801,680 that went with it.
Erik Seidel Leads Third Epic Poker League Event
The biggest cash winner in poker today, Erik Seidel, led the pack at the third Epic Poker League tournament after Day 1.
Seidel, who has 160 cashes and just shy of $17 million lifetime winnings, came in 2nd and 4th, respectively, at the first two Epic Poker Tournament events.
Noted female pro Vanessa Selbst, who was profiled on Gambling911.com just the other day, had the third largest chip count.

James Dempsey Wins 2011 World Poker Tour Five Diamond at Bellagio
James Dempsey has won the 2011 World Poker Tour Five Diamond at the Bellagio Resort. Dempsey outlasted 413 other players to capture the $821,612 first place prize.
He is now up over $1.5 million in live tournaments. His previous big wins included 1st place at the 41st World Series of Poker 2010 Event 9 – WSOP Pot Limit Hold’em, where he cashed out $197,470, and the 41st WSOP 2010 Event #25 – Omaha Hi/Lo Championship 8 or Better with a 2nd place finish but biggest cashout leading into this past week at $301,790.
Martin Finger Wins EPT Prague 2011
Germany has scored yet another major poker victory tonight with PokerStars qualifier Martin Finger taking down the €5,3000 EPT Prague Main Event for €720,000. He joins a growing roster of German speakers who have walked away with EPT trophies this season – Ronny Kaiser (from Switzerland) won the season’s first event in Tallinn, Martin Schleich won EPT Barcelona and Benny Spindler won EPT London.
Patrick Renkers Takes Massive Chip Lead at EPT Prague 2011
Dutch PokerStars player Patrick Renkers has a massive chip lead going into Day 4 of EPT Prague - with 31 players left. He has 2,423,000 while German PokerStars qualifier Martin Finger in second place has about half that: 1,289,000. Team PokerStars Pros Jude Ainsworth and Juan Manuel Pastor are also still in contention for the €775,000 first prize.
A total of 722 players from 50 countries competed at EPT Prague this season making it the biggest poker tournament held in the Czech Republlc. The total prize pool is €3,501,700; 04 places are being paid.
Oliver Speidel Wins Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event 2011
Australian poker pro Oliver Speidel has won the Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event 2011 as part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). He takes home $50,866 as a result. The P50,000 (US$1,155) buy-in poker tournament took place from December 1st to 6th at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Manila.

Another Russian Enjoying Success at EPT Prague 2011
PokerStars.net Russian Poker Series Kyiv champion Garri Tevosov is chip leader going into Day 3 of EPT Prague with 764,000. Tevosov took the RPS Kyiv title and $180,087 first prize back in March.
A total of 136 players are through to Day 3 of EPT Prague out of the 407 who began the day. German PokerStars qualfiier Martin Finger is currently second with 612,600. Five members of Team PokerStars Pro are also still in: Jude Ainsworth, Liv Boeree, Juan Manuel Pastor, Dag Palovic and Johnny Lodden.
WSOP Circuit Events at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City 2011 Huge Success Early On
The numbers don’t lie and the WSOP Circuit Events at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City for 2011 have had another great showing. Event One numbers were off a bit from last year’s 1250 players, however, Event Two was up by approximately the difference.
The next three events that followed drew big, if not spectacular, fields and some decent prize pools, the Atlantic City Weekly noted.
Russian Andrey Pateychuk Wins World Poker Tour Prague Main Event 2011
Russian poker player Andrev Pateychuk has won the 2011 World Poker Tour Prague and the $630,263 that comes with that honor.
Pateychuk’s live tournament earnings to date were just over $1.1 million prior to this week’s win.
He is currently on a roll, having won the 2011 PokerStars EPT San Remo in October.
568 players creating a prize pool of €1,753,200.
