Joe Hachem, Shane Warne Among the Finalists at their Own Charity Poker Events

Here is something sort of ironic as it relates to the 2012 Aussie Millions event.  Joe Hachem nearly won his own charity event, finishing third.

Jonathan Duhamel Beaten Up Again!

2010 World Series of Poker champ Jonathan Duhamel can’t seem to stay out of the press these days.

Just days before Christmas, Duhamel became the victim of a brazen home invasion allegedly orchestrated by his ex-girlfriend.  She and three other individuals were eventually apprehended.

Duhamel left his home base of Montreal to take part in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and managed to win a few hundred thousand dollars in side events.

Joran van der Sloot Pleads Guilty to All Charges Including Murder

Dutchman Joran van der Sloot pleaded guilty early Wednesday on all counts against him for the murder of Peruvian college student Stephany Flores. 

"I am really sorry for what happened," he said. He pleaded guilty to "qualified murder" and simple robbery.

Van der Sloot had met Flores in a casino while attending the Latin American Poker Tour in May of 2010. 

Police say van der Sloot killed Flores in his Lima hotel room shortly thereafter, then took money and bank cards from her wallet and fled to Chile, where he was arrested a few days later.

Bail Denied for Two Assailants in Jonathan Duhamel Attack, Including Ex-Girlfriend

The ex-girlfriend of 2010 World Series of Poker champion Jonathan Duhamel and one other accomplice, John Stephen Clark Lemay, have been denied bail by a Montreal judge.  Both are accused of forced entry into Duhamel’s home along with robbery and a beating of the poker pro that left him hospitalized. 

Anthony Bourque, charged with the home invasion of poker champion Jonathan Duhamel, used his sweatshirt to wipe away his tears after a Quebec Court judge released him on bail today.

La Sengphet Becomes First Woman in History to Win Three Open Tournaments on WSOP Circuit

La Sengphet this weekend became the first woman to win three Open Tournaments on the World Series of Poker circuit.  She did so at the famed Los Angeles Bicycle Casino Saturday evening.

The Dallas resident collected $25,242 in prize money for her win.

Isildur1 Wins $100K PCA Super High Roller Event for $1.24 Million: Jonathan Duhamel Takes $300K

One of online poker’s most successful players, Viktor Blom (better known perhaps by his player handle ‘Isildur1’) has just won the $100K PCA Super High Roller Event and the $1.24 million that went with it.

Phil Ivey Ex Not Happy With Divorce Settlement

Despite receiving millions of dollars and a $1.2 million purse collection, Phil Ivey’s ex-wife Luciaetta Ivey does not believe the couple’s divorce settlement to be fair. 

A court document filed Tuesday with the Nevada Supreme Court, Luciaetta Ivey "has attempted only to secure information to confirm that she received a fair settlement."

"That Phil has refused to voluntarily provide the information that Luciaetta seeks only supports her belief that the settlement was not fair," her attorney, Bruce Shapiro, wrote.

Jonathan Duhamel Speaks About Home Invasion: “They Threatened My Parents Lives”

A terrified Jonathan Duhamel spoke to the media just one week after a harrowing home invasion left him badly beaten and robbed of his 2010 World Series of Poker bracelet.  The suspects, four in total, have been arrested.  One of those charged is a former girlfriend of Duhamel’s, Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, who we are learning actually accompanied Duhamel to the WSOP Main Event this past year.

"I've played hockey all my life, so I've had some fights -- but not one like this one," Duhamel, 24, said in an interview Friday.

Jonathan Duhamel’s Ex Girlfriend Among Those Arrested in Connection With Home Invasion

The ex girlfriend of Jonathan Duhamel has been arrested in connection with last week's home invasion.  Bianca Rojas-Latraverse reported dated pro.

Four individuals were arrested Wednesday in connection with a home invasion that left 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel badly beaten.  His diamond encrusted bracelet, Rolex and cash were stolen from the home last week as well.

Lucietta Ivey Receives $12 Million Purse Collection as Part of Phil Ivey Divorce Settlement

Lucietta Ivey, the ex-wife of poker pro Phil Ivey, has received a purse collection worth more than $1.2 million, jewelry valued at more than $1 million and $180,000 a month in alimony as part of her divorce settlement with the poker star.

Lucietta filed for divorce from her estranged husband back in 2009.  Ivey was among the big name pros tied to Full Tilt Poker, a company that was shut down this past summer.  The US Government alleges that three of the Full Tilt Poker pros were engaged in a “massive ponzi scheme” though Ivey was not named as a defendant.

Lock Poker CEO Jennifer Larson Committed to Building Pro Roster in 2012

Lock Poker’s CEO Jennifer Larson sees the poker pros as ambassadors to the game.  While other online rooms, most notably PokerStars, continue to purge their pros, Larson has other ideas. 

“We’ll have more coming on board in 2012 and we are considering at least two other retreats like what we hosted in the South of France back in October,” said Larson.

PokerStars, Joe Hachem Part Ways

2005 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Hachem and PokerStars have parted ways, it was announced on Friday.

 “It’s been a great run with PokerStars and I’m proud of my association with the people and the company,” Hachem said in the official announcement. “But it’s time for me to pursue other career opportunities and it will be fun to have some down time to spend with my family. I look forward to the future with much excitement and anticipation and will always have fond memories of my time at PokerStars.”
