Zynga Shares Soar Thursday on News of Real Money Online Poker Move
The world’s largest free-to-play online poker company announced in after hours Wednesday that it had applied for a license to operate real money online poker with the state of Nevada.
Thursday, stocks shot up to 5 percent by mid afternoon Thursday.
Analysts remained cautious regarding the news nonetheless.
Bally Technology Looks to Acquire Online Poker Game Developer 3G Studios
(Reuters) - Slot-machine maker Bally Technologies is exploring a bid for online poker game developer 3G Studios, in what would be the latest deal to combine online gambling and casino gaming on social media, said two sources with knowledge of the talks.
One source said several Bally Technologies executives were scheduled to visit 3G's offices in Reno, Nevada on Tuesday to determine whether to make a formal bid.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Expected to Sign Online Gambling Bill
A bill to legalize online gambling in the state of New Jersey is scheduled for full Assembly vote on December 17 and in the Senate on December 20.
The measure is widely anticipated to pass in both the Assembly and state Senate as a similar bill did so last year.
Governor Chris Christie had reservations about signing last year’s bill and instead opted to pull out his veto pen in the waning hours before a looming deadline.
This year should be different according to sources close to Gambling911.com.
Zynga Applies for Nevada Online Poker License
The world’s largest free-to-play online poker site, Zynga, has applied for a Nevada online poker site that the company said could take up to a year before they are up and running to accept real money from US customers, or at least those in the state of Nevada.

One of Denmark’s most recognizable names in the world of poker, Theo Jorgensen, was shot earlier in the week during a robbery at his home.
The 36-year-old Jorgensen, who has amassed nearly $3 million in live tournament play during his career, was shot in the leg during the breakin late Sunday night.
Poker Tournament News: 2012 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Atlantic City Updates
In Tuesday’s poker tournament news, the 2012 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Atlantic City Event #5, a $580 No-Limit Hold’em tournament, drew more than 30 percent more players than the previous $580 No-Limit Hold’em event held at Harrah’s Resort. In all, 260 players registered creating a prizepool of $129, 675. The top 27 spots will pay with a min cash worth $1,048. The champion will pocket $31,770.

UK Putting Restraints on Internet Gambling Firms
The United Kingdom, long a hotbed for Internet gambling firms, has drafted a gambling bill that would tighten current regulation.
The bill would require overseas operators to inform the Government about suspicious betting patterns.
A 2005 bill enabled companies operating in Gibraltar and the Isle of Man to obtain a gambling license from the UK as well as advertise there.

Montreal Poker Hits The Big Time, WPT Event Breaks Record
Last week’s WPT Montreal demonstrated that there is definitely a demand for big time poker events in Canada, home to Gambling911.com.
ESPN’s Andrew Feldman noted that there wasn’t a whole lot of optimism heading into the 2012 WPT Montreal, mainly because a number of other major poker events had flopped throughout the country even after Canadian Jonathan Duhamel won the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The WSOP Circuit 2012 Harrah’s Atlantic City Event 2 is down to the final 90 and each player is now guaranteed $589.
This event was scheduled to play to a winner Sunday night and will award $50,000 to first.
Caufman Talley, who already has two WSOP Circuit rings, had the second largest number of chips behind Charles Moore as of early Sunday evening.
Yossi Azulay, who has 15 cashes in live tournaments to date, was among the top 10 chip leaders.

Full Tilt Poker Executive Director Accused in Ponzi Scheme Settles With DOJ
Rafe Furst, one of three individuals accused of orchestrating an elaborate ponzi scheme while on the Board of Directors of Full Tilt Poker, has settled with US law enforcement and will now surrender his Swiss bank account and pay a $150,000 fine.
In return the US Government has dropped the civil money laundering penalty of $11,706,323.96. A portion of those funds are contained within the Swiss bank account.
‘Killing Them Softly’ Gambling Flick With Brad Pitt Opens Friday
The long awaited mob gambling flick “Killing Them Softly” finally opens in theatres Friday.
It’s a film about American crime directed by Andrew Dominik based on the 1974 novel Cogan's Trade by George V. Higgins and stars Pitt along with Ray Liotta and James Gandolfini.
“Killing Them Softly” is about a professional enforcer named Jackie Cogan, who investigates a heist that transpired during a mob-protected poker game.
Poker Players Alliance Hosting Town Hall in Greater Boston Area on December 1st
This Saturday, December 1st, the PPA is hosting a free Town Hall event at the Clarion Inn in the greater Boston area to discuss a number of priority issues facing poker players across the nation and various states. John Pappas, PPA’s executive director, will provide an update on the efforts to license and regulate online poker in the U.S. as well as insight into the Full Tilt repayment process for U.S. players.
French MPs Caught Playing Online Poker During National Assembly
While France has been among the most draconian nations when it comes to allowing online poker sites to operate, don’t tell that to the MPs.
Recently a number of them were photographed playing online poker and reading adult cartoons during France’s National Assembly, according to Sky News.
